Just Call It Sri Sri Lanka Now

File under: The Siddhi of PR

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been busy lately indoctrinating politicians from Sri Lanka at his Bangalore Art of Living headquarters, and boy has he been effective. Take it from his newly-minted PRbot, Sri Lankan MP Jayalath Jayawardana:
"There is religious harmony (at the ashram). I met a Catholic teacher from Kerala. There are Muslim teachers, Catholic teachers, teachers from different ethnic groups. This is a novel experience I can take back to our country. There is some kind of distance between religious groups in our country," he added.

"We have been leading a very busy life and a tense and stressful life. These three days we were able to learn how to lead a relaxed life. We have a demanding profession, especially because of the ethnic conflict. We have learnt how to be patient, how to be compassionate, how to be tolerant, how to be natural."

Jayawardana, who also heads UNP's relief and human rights committee, said more Sri Lankan MPs would certainly make it to the Art of Living Centre in the months to come.

Already a few of the nine MPs had decided to become vegetarian, he said, without revealing their names. "A couple have indicated to me they will give up alcoholic consumption."
It looks like Jayawardana drank 10-gallons of Sri Sri's Nobel Peace Prize Kool-Aid and he's pissing soundbites to order. We wonder what the quid pro quo is here. Perhaps Sri Sri offered to mention him in his Peace Prize acceptance speech, an international recognition sure to boost Jayawardana's profile at home. Or maybe he just stuffed some pockets with "donations" at the laundry.

The likelihood of Sri Sri ever giving that speech is on a par with his success at peacemaking so far. And with the Sri Lankan government still bombing the Tamil Tiger rebels and civilian population of northern Sri Lanka, Sri Sri's going to have to do a lot more than convince a few junket-whore politicians to favorably spout off about him to the press.

Clearly the author has reported some wonderful news, of the great work that HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is doing for the world community. Good to know that!

Guess that particular MP from Sri Lanka was at the ashram in Bangalore during a lull of ashram violence. Must have been that during that stay there were no Art Of Living teachers beating other Art of Living teachers (nearly to death) in a lover's rage (true incident at the Bangalore Ashram in the past -- and both those teachers, the one beaten to a pulp (female) and the perpetrator of the violence (a jilted lover - male), are two of Sri Sri's top teachers to this day! Also must not have been any children being beaten with long sticks for doing yoga postures "improperly" by the "teachers" (idiots hired to look after these poor kids) -- another true incident witnessed by several people (including myself) at the Bangalore ashram. Also must not have been a murder that week (throat of a teacher cut under unknown circumstances, by unknown persons for unknown reasons -- true incident at the ashram hushed up vigorously by Sri Sri's brother in law so the foreigners would not be frightened to come and pay to stay there).

So it's truly nice to hear that while some ministers from other countries were there, the inmates of the Art of Living Insane Asylum were behaving themselves. I'm sure it was very peaceful.

What a joke.

Ashrams are a microcosm of the world. You get every type of people there, and their bad traits get seemingly magnified. The Bangalore Art of Living ashram is no different. All of the incidents listed above are true. They happened why Ravi Shankar was in residence. The penalty for the man beating his (ex)girlfriend up was that his shoes should be left outside in the ran during satsang (!!!) No police or doctors were allowed to be called. The woman who was beaten had a face swollen beyond recognition, as well as cuts and bruises all over. All inmates were told "she has bad karma, so this happened to her". When one person there at the time told Ravi that this was a criminal offense, and that doctors and police should be called from the city, he reluctantly went to see the poor woman, and told her "you'll be alright". Very sickening.

The Art of Living is a cult filled with twisted people running it, some of those the two people pointed out above. You can imagine the results of the "techniques" and the "peacefulness" of the ashram. Go against the party line, and you are ousted in the sternest way. "What happens in Bangalore stays in Bangalore" should be their motto. Before someone leaving Art of Leaving can even tell anyone, they are labeled as "crazy", "a liar", and various other titles, by Sri Sri and his minions. It has happened to dozens who have left. If they are to close to him and know too much, he is sure to disgrace them before they can speak out, hoping to make whatever they say less potent or believable. He is a sick puppy, and so are those around him.

If you are in Art of Living, leave. If you are thinking of joining Art of Living, don't. The place is crawling with disease and hypocrisy, not enlightenment or spiritual teachings or peace.

I took a AOL course before and the lady teacher subscribed my email to all the groups in east coast. I asked her to unsubscribe me from all the groups. The reason I asked is there are no instructions on how to unsubscribe me in the email. Here is what she said

"This is something you can do it yourself"

and here is my reply.

"It sure is. But who subscribed me to all the groups? I didn't do it myself? And you never gave me instructions on how to unsubscribe. "

I sent her 3 more emails like this but no reply. And she never unsubscribed me. I had to do it myself.

Arrogant biyatch. AOL sucks. What do these kind of people teach? bullsh*t.

Boy, your rants are the stuff of legend! Your existence depends on the hatred you have for Sri Sri and his movement.Okay, so nothing's perfect and any movement attracts its share of malcontents and abusive people. You guys pick up one incident and blow it up. Incidentally, I have been closely associated with the admin of AOL in the past and I am sure this would have come to my knowledge. See the positives buddy!

Whether I like the teachers or not is another issue. All I know is that incidents of violence are extremely rare. Stri Sri himself is beyond violence. Get your jollies anyway you wish but know what's true.

I don't think Sri Sri is beyond anything. He's too busy lusting after name and fame to worry about that.

"Stri Sri himself is beyond violence"

Uh..really? His foot soldiers are there to do what he wants. One of my friends was sweet talked into joining aol.Wisdom and courage dawned on him after he lost a lot of money with no receipts issued even.(btw, those who have no money are offered repayable loans to learn his courses:(( When he complained to ravishankar the conman, that they were siphoning off his money, his yesmen threatened him with very dire consequences...that his wife and children would be "taken care of..yadyada" and he was literally thrown out.Right before ravishankar!

Btw, aol funds were very much behind Mumbai blasts,it was reported. Is it any wonder, as yasin malik,a terrorist is one of his "disciples"? ravishankar like the other dubious baba wields enormous money power in corrupt India.Hence preoccupied with his evil sickening smile(ss).

to the last anonymous:

In my opinion, Ravi Shankar is a loser, and uses lots of people for their talent and money. He ruins lives. He started out meaning to do well, certainly, but quickly succumbed to the draw of fame and money.

However..........your statements that he is behind the bomb blasts are ridiculous. Just because one bad player is his disciple doesn't mean that SSRS is a terrorist.

I do believe that his henchmen threatened a devotee who was complaining -- I experienced that myself, and have met others who have as well.

The problem with bashing gurus, is that if you start making statements based on little or nothing (like he is a terrorist because a muslim is his disciple) then all of us who are telling the truth(s) about him (there were really horribly violent episodes on his ashram when I and other friends were there, and the perpetrators remain very high in his organization, preaching Peace and Love, blah blah blah, to this day....)will go unheeded.

Please stick with what you are sure of about him. That way, all of the real accusations will not be thrown away by his ardent, brainwashed followers.

If you have any real proof or knowledge of his association with terrorism, you should report it to the FBI and thereby prevent him from travelling to the USA and maybe Europe in the future. Many families in the west who are destroyed by his foolishness would be saved by that move. The FBI is not on the take in India. SSRS cannot buy his way out of the FBI if he actually is a terrorist of any kind, or associated with terrorists that the USA is careful not to admit into their country.

Indians cannot be saved from him, because, as you say, the corruption is really too rampant.

Why is it that every guru-addled rebuttal comes off as a twelve-year old's myspace profile, no matter how well spoken?

You can't possibly believe that people will buy your "He will pray for peace!" rot and garbage because you tell us "Y U HATIN?!"

If he can't even stop people from committing acts of violence UNDER HIS WATCH AND "CARE", he's powerless over his domain, country, and certainly over anywhere in the world.

About aol funds having played a role in a circuitous way-this was what I read in a message board (it was written that it was "reported").I am not telling ravishankar gave money for this purpose but that some pakistanis also happen to be "teachers" in his worldwide branches. yasin malik has assassinated Indian Air Force personnel but you know how terrorists are mollycoddled in India as they are often in cahoots with politicians. That, he is ravishankar's disciple is known. Nagma, the ex paramour of dawood was (may be is still) also one of his "teachers". People who do know of certain unsavoury facts including his concocted life story reveal some details but after extracting promises that I would never tell anyone.
One such person, a very old man in his eighties who knows practically all sordid facts about various *godmen* including ravishankar told me " Even if you hear or read ravishankar raped a girl (he repeated it twice with emphasis on the word "raped") you are not going to discuss with others nor bother about anything happening anywhere. This is the current state of affairs. So wise people should remain silent".

This was exactly what he told me. He narrated some story from Mahabharatham and recited some Sanskrit verses (dunno Sanskrit) to fortify his contention.

A South based regional newspaper sometime back also carried a news report that an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest but all hushed up soon and nothing happened. Bangalore police and Indian Army personnel--some I have read have and are doing his courses.

At 11/06/2006 12:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, again, "anon", your implication that he ever "raped a girl", would tend to negate what lots of others know about Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It would NOT have been a girl, my friend. So your 80 year old friend may be a bit misinformed. In fact, that little tidbit could have been thrown out to you to get you away from the rest of the sordid truth. Maybe people could say "well, maybe she wasn't really raped...." And then forget about the whole thing. But if they heard anything like the truth, rape or no, most Indian family people, right or wrong, would simply walk away from SSRS. Women are not his major interest, if you know what I mean.

If you have info for the FBI, that would be way cool. Anything to restrict the nasty little man's wanderings, imo.

To the anonymous above,

Lest I should be misunderstood, what the old man meant was not that he had raped .He meant even if one hears such allegations (rape and murder being the most shocking) ons should not bother and focus on one's own life. Let his followers decide to leave or stick to him. Well, even after so many newspaper reports and bbc programmes, the other baba is unfazed and so are his "devotees".

gurugrass,

The bus you were referring was actually going to NIMHANS. We left the bus on purpose. :-) Not only that, the place you are currently at is also NIMHANS. You definitely got a Kool-Aid DOUBLESHOT.

Gurugrace:

you said:
"One can but feel sorry about the losers after reading these postings. Any sane person would immediately recognise these postings as nothing but reflection of perverted minds."

I see SSRS is still at it-- whenever he was ever caught at anything untoward, some of it simple paranoia, some of it "perveted", and anyone dared to speak about it, he would tell all who heard "if you hear these things it means that you have dirty ears, because the Guru can not do anything wrong....." I feel sorry for the lot of you, having ditched your lives to follow such drivel, deluding yourselves into thinking you are all enlightened. I never saw such a miserable group of needy people as I did at SSRS's ashram.

You also said:

"Guru is a not a person but a tatva (element) and Sri Sri is no different. But only the fortunate ones will get to know it. Some will come close to it, but Divine will not bless them with the ultimate because they still carry a perverted mind in their head. "

Agreed that Guru is Tattva. No argument there. I'm only pointing out SSRS's digusting behaviors and those of his disciples here. I have no clue as to whether he is enlightened or not -- I suspect, however, not. And, Gurugrace, you like the word 'perverted' I see. Not a wonder, with the company you are keeping.....

You also said:

"But not all “seekers” are true to themselves. Some will claim to be a seeker, but for the show and to run away with someone when their dirty desires overpowers them. They drop the exalted realm of guru-disciple relationship and give into sensual pulls (sure you know the type of person I am referring to)."

Yeah, being 'true to one's self, in your opinion, and in SSRS's opinion, means to stick around the sick environment at the ashram, enrich SSRS and his mission with work or money, and be generally miserable. I guess by 'dirty' desires (again, you seem obsessed with perversions and dirtiness, gurugrace) you mean people might leave SSRS to pursue a healthy relationship with another human being? Do you mean to have, heaven forbid!!!!!! Sex?????? Oh my God.....how terrible. Since SSRS does not abstain, how can you think that so terrible, gurugrace? Or are you still deluded by his white robes, and think he is brahmachari? What a joke. BTW, there is no exalted guru-disciple relationship with SSRS. He is not a true guru.

In my opinion, being true to one's self involves seeking the Truth, wherever it might be found, not worshipping someone who thinks he is an incarnation of God. When I asked SSRS what the use was of feeling the "high" of satsang then the "low" of not being in satsang, comparing it to drug use (what is the difference, I wanted to know?) he had no answer at all. He looked dumbfounded. On another occasion, when I asked "if you are Satguru, tell me the truth! not just 'do what I say do'", he looked meekly at me and said "what do you want me to do?", and made it perfectly clear that there was not a thing he could do for anyone.

You also said:

"They either concoct stories or become permanently hallucinated and start seeing murder, rape and terror where none exist."

You clearly do not know what has happened at the Bangalore ashram. That is not your fault. Please investigate before you make these claims. Ask SSRS directly, and persistently. See if he gets angry. Check it out. He knows fully well that everything stated here (I don't know about the rape or terrorism charges stated by another person, though -- only the murder, violence and deceit) is true.

You said:
"On the way to Sri Sri’s ashram is NIMHANS, the globally renowned mental hospital. Probably they were sent to NIMHANS, but landed in the ashram because they were already insane. "

The ashram in Bangalore is a mental hospital. A truly great saint who was visiting SSRS at one time advised me, quite rightly, 'this place is a mental hospital -- why are you here? No need. You should leave this place.' I tried to defend SSRS, out of misplaced loyalty, but I did end up leaving, knowing that he was correct. Another great saint who SSRS used to visit in Bangalore once told me (after I left) that SSRS should have married, that he would have been more normal. He also said I should not be upset that I got no real guidance from SSRS because 'what can you expect if you follow a blind man and he leads you into a ditch?' That saint was held in the highest esteem by SSRS. He often sought guidance there.

I agree completely that the Bangalore ashram is populated by the mentally ill. I don't know what bus they were on. I'm only happy I didn't get stuck there with you all, but had the good sense to resist the Kool Aid and not stick around.
