Guruphiliac: Tilak Heads Back East

Tilak Heads Back East

File under: Gurubusting, Hands Where They Don't Belong and Satscams

For those of you curious about the latest doings of that lanky Sri Lankan and his "art" with a flashlight, the "Doctor" sends us an update:
Tilak has dashed out to the East Coast to find a producer that will make him famous. Ronda Byrne has obviously become too rich or enlightened to be seen with him.

Tilak's “love bird” is still being hidden from the public. He has stopped seeing his “students” because no one has told him that everyone knows she has cancer, so he keeps the charade going. That and the fact that he pissed off nearly everyone during his Ronda obsession.

I thought I was going to be able to talk about the “love bird's” replacement, but it seems that she also has vanished. Is this a sign that the walls of illusion are vanishing?

This has put a tremendous financial stain on [Tilak.] With [him] missing out on some good meals and free drinks nearly every weekend, I’'m am also feeling the strain. I guess paying ten thousand dollars for an “odyssey” [to] then watch him talk on the phone to Ronda for the whole weekend has taken its toll.

Even his personal assistant (when she isn’'t in rehab for something or leading an AA meeting) doesn'’t accompany him on his trips anymore. She obviously doesn’t fit the beautiful blond profile anymore. Why doesn'’t he just blow on her? The blue light should make her all better and beautiful, according to him.

He (Tilak) seems to find the company of younger male entrepreneurs more to his liking lately. However, his Hollywood hair dresser and professed best friend opted out of the Movie trip this week. Maybe he has a rep to watch out for, or maybe it seems that the people on the West Coast are starting to feel a bit silly having spent so much [money] for... what was it again?... oh, I remember, an “explosion of light breeze”. So it's time to test the waters back east.
Who can blame Rhonda for dropping Tilak like he was a needy plain Jane at a cheerleaders' convention. Now that she's been vaunted into the highest echelons of New Age™ flimflammery by her guru, Oprah, there's just no need for such a lightweight con-partner anymore.

Meanwhile, Tilak continues to chase his dreams of big-time celebrity gurudom. But with the recent press investigation in San Diego and that damning piece in New York magazine, along with the omnipotent power of the Googles, he'll soon find a diminished patsy-pool from which to dip in for his living expenses.

Is the Doctor your inside person?
or are
we being fed gossip?

This person seems to know what is going on at a inside level.

Having personally met most of the people the Doctor is referring to I have to wonder what is the motivation behind this persons willingness to pass this information on to you.

I imagine he or she feels ripped off by Tilak. Not so surprising that... or that s/he'd feel motivated to share.

But who knows, maybe it's Tilak fucking with us himself.

First off, anyone who knew Tilak would know he probably couldn't respond to an email let alone a blogg. This man is very clever but dumb as a rock when it comes to even the simplest of things.
Second if he ever started to respond you would know it because it would start out about a story of his childhood, and it would end about him also.

The reason I share is because I love accuracy. And Jody cracks me up. I only wish I could write better.

Most of those who have lost money or have been hurt by dealing with Tilak may feel that it is best to just walk away. Most are to embarrassed to admit they even fell for it.

I would normally agree that walking away is best. The exception to this is that I am on a journey that has brought me in contact with Tilak and I enjoy watching this saga unfold as much as any movie I have ever seen or any life journey I have been on up to this day. I only regret that it is in this place called Las Vegas. I hope for my health both mental and physical that he will decide to move on to somewhere inhabitable.

I will not reveal who I am because to do so would end this wonderful time for me. I am not yet ready for that to occur.

So Doc - are you really so intimidated by Tilak that you're unable to confront him yourself with your list of personal disappointments? Honestly, wouldn't a simple and direct confrontation accomplish your supposed goals much more quickly - and perhaps even get you a cash refund? Of course, the answer to that question is you won't - and that's because you're scared shitless of him. Of course, I suppose Jody's blog does make a good sounding board for all you sore losers. And since the man can barely prop up his own bruised and dangerously over-inflated ego, he could surely use yours for "moral" support. Just because he doesn't charge you anything doesn't make you any less of a sucker.

Ahh... you're referring to me! Shoot, if I'd figured that out before I approved your comment, I'd have rejected it outright! Kudos to you for striking a blow against my "dangerously over-inflated ego."

Are we sure we are both talking about the same Tilak?
The one I know does not give cash refund under any circumstance. Just ask the lady from San Diego who prompted the channel 10 investigation down there. (http://www.10news.com/news/11087742/detail.html) She was asking for chump change.

You wrote about a list of personal disappointments that I should confront Tilak with. I do not recall mentioning any such disappointments. As far as confronting Tilak, why would I want to do such a thing?

I will say it again, I am completely enjoying myself. It is a benefit for me to remain cordial with him. I thought my earlier comments portrayed that. All my goals are currently being met. The day I need a cash refund from Tilak is not foreseeable.

The being scared shitless of him is an fascinating perception you have of him. I have seen him get angry and hit people as well call them names and threaten them but that does not cause me any fear. You may believe he has some power to wield that I should fear but in all these years he has never given me cause to fear him.

If I have written something that lacks accuracy please feel free to challenge that. If you wish to attack me personally feel free there also. I very much enjoyed your comment about Jody’s ego, that was beautifully written and I am sure that will plagiarize that line in the future.

Sorry Doc, I only assumed you had suffered personal disappointment in your dealings with Tilak because your post vaguely refers to "hurt" and "lost money." Your dubious insistence that you are continuing to have a good time with Tilak must therefore mean that you - like others - have now appointed yourself the saviour of fools. You bemoan the fact that others are suffering from their obvious ignorance, while your silicon-shelled puffery would have us believing you are untouched by it all. I have my doubts, however, since by your own admission, your mental and physical health seems to be causing you some distress. Maybe it's time you were leaving Las Vegas? Or maybe you're just suffering from the strain of being duplicitous - both internally and externally. And really, I only assumed you were scared shitless of Tilak because that's typically why people employ dishonesty in order to get their needs met. But, of course, you've set the record straight regarding your fiendishly clever charade, which, I mistook for pure chicken-shit. Some day it may happen that you realize it wasn't Tilak who had you fooled.

Anonymous,

I must say your writing style is intriguing as well as entertaining. You have a natural flair for moving words around cunningly to adjust the significance of the sentence to fit your agenda. I do admire that.

Yes, I do believe that there are those out there that have had dealings with Tilak who are possibly suffering from what they now see as their ignorance. I however, will not speak for anyone but myself.

I paid to experience what Tilak calls a transmition of light, and I was satisfied with that experience. I found it very exciting. I also paid to see Lance Burton perform and was equally satisfied. If I had paid for some of the outlandish proclamations about his ability to making things appear and disappear, and then find out it was a trick such as the one he and his L.A dentist friend pulled, then I may perhaps also be pissed. Instead I was able to laugh at (not with) those involved.

My physical and mental suffering originates from the same thing that his blonde assistant suffers from. Las Vegas is a breathing nightmare. The air here is a cesspool of allergenic poison. If it wasn’t for the money (which is damn good} I wouldn’t live here, and yes it is time I left.

I dare say that the real fear is yours, for you know that I what I have written is not only truthful, but just the tip of the iceberg. If you have a specific question about anything that I have written feel completely free to state those questions. I have said before I am not making accusation, or false allegations these are my personal experiences and my personal interpretation of what I see and hear.

One can't help but be amused by your apparent fixation with the blondeness of Tilak's assistant. That aside, your metaphorical finesse appears to be as questionable as your choice of gurus (or entertainers -I mean, REALLY - Lance Burton?????). Cesspools run underground (much as your hidden disappointment and desire for retaliation - or as you mislabel it - "satisfaction") As for the "allergenic poisoning?" -some "Doctor" you are. An allergic reaction is caused by your own BODY -in much the same way as the problems you've attributed to Tilak actually lie within your own twisted self-perception and subsequent defensive assault. Seems all this could take it's toll eventually. But hey, the money's good - right?

Anonymous,

Once again you have danced around any subject matter that is related to Tilak.

As far as my questionable choice of Gurus, Tilak should feel honored to be compared with an internationally and legitimately renowned person such as Lance.

You are quick to try to point out errors such as words and the use of them, so let me help you out a little. The word “allergenic” is an adjective and it means relating to or having the effect of an allergen. OK, now an allergen is a noun used in Immunology to describe a substance, such as pollen, that causes an allergy… Still with me, or should I slow down?.. Now an allergy (noun) is an abnormal reaction of the body to a previously encountered allergen. An allergic reaction is not caused by the body; it is the body’s protective reaction to an encounter with an allergen. This is a topic I am familiar with, the fact that I am damn good, is why Tilak came to me to begin with.

Also it is not necessary to correct a metaphor such as cesspool unless you feel it will not be understood by the audience it is meant for. I believe that most readers can relate to the word cesspool in reference to the Las Vegas air quality.

Once again your attempts to cleverly manipulate words and draw the focus away from anything factual is nothing less than stupendous.

The apparent fixation as you refer to is my way of not using the names of people associated with Tilak. I would not want someone mistaking the blonde assistant with the assistant that currently has no hair or the woman down the road with the yappy dogs who wants to buy all the house in the neighborhood, or his money manager and organizer who lives far enough away that her husband doesn’t have to jump every time Tilak wants something done (I don’t think his hips can take it). It would seem unfair to those who are around him to mention them by name. They, like me, are not proclaiming to be a guru of any kind. They just associate with Tilak. If you really know Tilak then you would also agree that he can be very fun at times.

I do have a dilemma that you may be able to help with seeing how you wish to appear as one promoting journalist accuracy. How should I describe the newest addition? She is also blonde (I must be fixating again) as well as very attractive. They (Tilak and her) looked quite cute together last night. She has shown up at, and has been involved with all the big events lately. Does this mean Tilak will be doing something soon? I know that she was suppose to replace his assistant (no hair) before she became ill. I guess we will have to wait and see if “no hair” is still planning on dancing away, when she is well again, with her lover, or if she will stay in what she calls “Tilaks space” (This was the space she was in when she became ill to begin with). Also we will have to wait and see if the “new blonde” is going to take her place.

To get back on track (questioning your supposed medical "knowledge" seems to have thrown you into a tizzy and derailed the topic) while your above quote does not directly state that Tilak claims to be a guru, it does seem to hint at such. Until you can factually support that assertion, I think I'll take a hiatus from your rather self-involved posts. Dorothy Parker put it best - "You can lead a whore to water, but you can't make her think."

Thanks DB yes his web site says it all. If you click on the circle that says Tilak I would say that the statement that Tilak is “all of these…and more” referring to a teacher, healer, mystic, philosopher and guru sums up how he sees himself.
I wish the doctor would have shown it so well.

I came to this blog a few weeks ago because someone told me they found something about Tilak on it. I will say this even if there are some things that are said that may seem mean spirited I am glad this blog is here.
I have paid a lot of money to Tilak because I thought he was genuine and sincere. I now know that I was incorrect. This person who has cancer said she was my friend. I believed her when she told me of all the wonderful things that happen when you are in Tilaks space. She knew how much I was sacrificing to come up with this last extreme amount yet she said nothing. I have found through others, now that it is public, just how much Tilak has taken from those of us who fell into the scam. A nice person would not have collected money for such a mean self centered person like Tilak.
I do not wish anyone to have an illness but I am glad this information was available to me before I shelled out another ten grand! I will tell everyone I know to visit this site before they visit Tilak.
Thank you Jody

I can say that this site was my turning point.
Also the cosmic connie blog mentions some other things about Tilak

If you deceive me and that deception cost anywhere from 2000 to 10,000 bucks I may feel a bit angry, maybe even hateful. If you work for the person who deceived me and know the deception I may direct those feeling towards you.
Would you feel less disgust towards Sadam Hussein if he had cancer? I would dare to speculate that you wouldn’t. Do I feel like a fool for being conned..yes. There would be less hate if more of those who sell false love such as Tilak were exposed by people like Jody.

I do not think the money loss can compare to the destruction I have seen to families. I belonged to the LA group which was quite large not to long ago. After the trick Tilak got caught trying to pull using his fake teleporting abilities many of us saw him for the trickster he was. I know we are all adults but when someone tricks someone into spending money that could have been used for their children the family suffers from guilt, and trust issues that are destructive. Not to mention the worries they have about the contact Tilak had with their children. That lady in San Diego had every right to be angry and to want justice. There is more here than money, and Tilak is not the only guru out there causing this kind of destruction.

I thank Jody and the others for shedding light on these people. this is not hateful.

I hear a lot of whining about how much money has been spent, and how you all have been tricked.
That’s all well and good but nothing is ever said about the validity of Tilaks work. I can’t believe that you forked over thousands of dollars without believing you where going to get something in return. No one ever talks about what they did or didn’t get. I’m beginning to think you are all just pissed off people who Tilak didn’t pay enough attention to.
I mean get real, 10,000 bucks for three or four days in a dumpy house in Las Vegas with meals and who knows what else. You people are leaving something out or I’m totally missing the whole picture. Nothing I heard Tilak say could make me shell out that kind of cash.
Even the “doctor” talked in riddles.
Give up some information or get over yourself.

Enquirer that was a great post. I was going to add my ten cents (inflation) worth of Tilak bashing until I read your post. Now I will make it a full dollar.
Tilak uses the basic mind control games that are seen throughout the cult practices. I do not know how he can create the blue light or any other experience that people have reported but I am able to say that he uses emotional linguistic control better than most people I have seen. He speaks in complete abstracts so as to limit any critical thinking by his “students” and then demands that someone ask a question, and that question will be answered again abstractly. Those in the group being spoken to whom have heard these abstract answers before will nod there head or say “oh yea” because they recognize the answer and want to be noticed by Tilak not because they understand it. This causes the new recruit to think that others are getting something that they are not.
After getting a sufficient number of people saying yes or nodding there heads up and down like puppets he quickly departs as if he has pressing work and leaving the group to a subordinate that will conduct some type of movements, sounds or both, that the purpose of which are never explained. This causes a further collapse of the critical thinking process. Usually this is done before a session.
Every thing is done in a pyramid fashion cost of sessions, amount of time with him, recognition of contribution and so forth.
If there are two people together they will soon be separated unless one is seen as a care giver such as an older couple or one partner with health issues. The excuse is always that one will hold the other back. If children are involved with a married couple he will go out of his way to acknowledge the children until he can separate the parents. Then he will become detached about any conversation about them further deepening the lack of critical thinking by covertly installing guilt with quick questions about the family situation, or suggesting infidelity with another student of his. As mentioned in an early post this is unfavorable for any relationship and if the relationship fails he is there to suck you in further.
Now if anything I have mentioned above sounds like your experience with Tilak then you can say “cool I have been brainwashed”. I have said it myself.
There is a ton of information available on line about this stuff so before you chose your next Guru do yourself a favor and be more intellectually prepared.

I can see now that tilak saying that i connected with this man or that man every time i did an intensive was his delusional need to match make. Then having his perverted LA hairdresser flunky making passes at me and every woman there makes more sense now.
i still do not see how these woman that apparently work for him can remain so blind.

I just listen to your interview at (http://www.rusiriusradio.com/2007/04/10/show-100-kill-your-guru) and really enjoyed it. Thank you for helping to keep the desire to learn on a more honest track. I also think it is good advice to say that all Gurus are not bad.

I fell prey to Tilak because I was looking for something and was literally blinded by the light. No one twisted my arm, they twisted my perception.

I have a PhD in psychology so I knew that fake gurus like Tilak would claim to know something you cannot know by yourself or that you cannot research it through ordinary channels. Tilak also promised to show me a hidden reality and make me part of his family. I just lost husband who was my only family so that was my weak point. Every doubt that I expressed would be called a reflection of my own unworthiness, or the influence of my ego. He would claim to be free of these worldly limitations and then instantly go into a rage if any of these woman servants of his dare suggest anything different than what he was demanding at the time.

The point I want to make is that even though these signs are out there it is difficult to see them if your attention or your emotional state is weakened in any way, such as was mine. I so much wanted to experience something new, and to feel part of something that I didn’t see the scam until I was out a large chunck of money.

Remember if it looks to good to be true, take the time to look at it again. Do not surrender your common sense to anyone, and do not loose your desire to grow. and yes I can now say "Cool I got brainwashed also".

Multiple victims have stepped forward to describe how they were duped just above this very comment.

If that's not enough for you, you're already a goner.

I am wondering what your friend has told you about Tilak to make you consider going to see him?

I have goggled Tilak and not found any positive responses to him at all. With the exception of a person who challenged the Doctor, no one has stepped up on the side of this man Tilak. Some have attacked Jody or his intent but no-one has anything good to say about their experience with Tilak.

I agree with duck buster everything points to Tilak being a con man.

Styven that was insightful, I thought it was just me. I watched a very sweet couple who where together for their first intensives. Now they are never together and the wife is part of Tilaks staff. I noticed that none of the people associating with Tilak ever report a notable change for the good. Most are experiencing just the opposite. This even includes his staff of women who get worse each year.

I have people I call friends that are in contact with Tilak and they are saying he is cracking up after that Ronda Byrne Secret fiasco. He wants people to pay $10,000 for his sessions. Sadly some of them are paying. Most are trying to politely put space between themselves and Tilak.

I would say that if this blog had exposed Tilak back when I started blowing money on his scam I would have made better decisions. For that I will say thank you… Jody… for possibly helping someone else who may come to this site and make better decisions about Tilak.

Tilak is having a weekend fiasco and it seems that he has gathered what is left of his old crew for a big bash. In the past this meant that he was going to introduction a new scam. I will admit I am jealousy. The showing up of his new personal assistant means that it is important for him.

It only goes to show that there are people that are easily controlled by these so called gurus.

The word about this man is getting out as told by the comments on your blog. I checked and saw that anyone who types in Tilak+las vegas will get your site. Then next up is this powerful intention site that raves about Tilak. I guess people will only be as educated as they wish to be.

Dr

At 4/22/2007 5:01 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

As it does appear that the Dr has an agenda with Tilak. He brings out a point that I would like to elaborate on just a touch. Why work with groups? Why in a private home?

As you discover the methods in which people are drawn into the fake gurus’ scams you start to see that it is a subtle process. You may also start to realize some important things about yourself.

Most fake gurus have a talent, gift or trick. Most have a persuasive personality. Most will portray a handicapped in some way. The handicap can be health or helplessness, or a combination of things. They nearly all require someone to care for there basic needs. This is what draws many of the women in. It is a natural desire of woman to nurture. The cute young female assistant will draw in the males because he will want to know and learn what powers this guru has over woman. This is mostly instinctual behavior by both the males and females but is a powerful tool when employed by a fake guru as a control method.

Tilak and many of the other scamsters rely heavily on word of mouth and what I wrote in the early comment about speaking in abstract context is one of the most powerful tools or tricks that are employed by these disgraceful people.

Another tool is using people who appear honest and grounded in family morals, or have the appearance of having public trust. They will use the homes of these people so as to appear to be invited by them. This uses the good name of the individual to give the guru some credibility.

Scam artist such as Tilak will always have a core group of people that he can pull from when things get tough. This core group will constantly change as people wise up to him or new people come in that better serve his purpose. You can distinguish how the pecking order is formed by who he has together in each group. This is no coincident and it is vital to have the right people together that will support his illusion. The placement of people is critical to build the illusion of trust.

Bringing the same people together for rituals or sessions or what ever the activity is being called helps to bond them to each other, and if a relationship blossoms between his students it will be attributed to him and consequently deepening the loyalty to the guru. This is why many relationships crumble between married couples while working with a fake guru. It is important to the process for the guru to be a match maker.

It is not by chance that these gathering are sleep-overs. It is a proven psychological fact that when people of any gender are together in an environment that is normally seen as a family setting; eating together, sharing a house and so forth, the bond between them will be psychologically realized as family. Often students will be referred to by the guru as family. The fake gurus will position themselves in a posture of authority or father figure. This can be by sitting at the head of a table during the meals or it can be more subtle, such as sitting in a larger chair or have a person sitting next to them in a servant like position, or directly across from them where they can be observed at all times. The fake guru will almost always tell people where to sit so as to have the person they are most interested in preying on to be in a controlled place.

When the scamsters need instant funds or a show of solidarity they will gather the people together that they know reflect the above mentioned qualities and then add a few extra of his old crowd to show generosity. This select few will normally be given something extra or new. It could be a longer time with the guru or to experience his newest powers or tricks. This normally occurs after a large internal shakeup or the loss of significant numbers of followers due to bad publicity. It seems that this may be the case with Tilak.

Is Tilak a scamster to you because you didn’t get what he calls a “wonderful opening”, or a new lover, job, or riches? How much did it cost you before you decided you were not getting anything but a blue blow job? What ever the answer may be to these questions they are not as important as the question of how did you come to a place in your life where an individual could gain such power over you?

I met this Tilak from Las Vegas this past weekend. He showed up at our dinner meeting drunk and gave everyone a "session".
If you have met this man and are still willing to shell out thousands of dollars I would say that Jody is correct in saying...

"If that's not enough for you, you're already a goner"

I would have to say that people need to stop looking for someone else to "SHOW THEM THE WAY." The time has come my dear ones to open up your heart get out of fear and live your lives the way that is most natural to you. Take full responsibity for your own sacred life and watch as your own colours come out. Be egoless, be loving and of service for what else is being human about? Be easy with yourself. After all who asked you to be born?
