Master self-promoting guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by a U.S. Congressman:
A Democrat, [Joseph] Crowley was formerly the co-chairman of the Congressional caucus on India and Indian Americans. In Congress, he represents the Seventh District of New York which has a sizeable Indian-American population.Duh!
And so the flames of Sri Sri's Peace Prize dreams are reignited. We look forward to reporting on the ensuing hijinks as Sri Sri tries to keep high in the public eye and on the radar of the Nobel Prize committee.

There was a smilar skirmish a couple of years ago with Sai Baba, who was reportedly nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize too. Thankfully that came to nought.
Hey, I really like Sri Sri. If you'd meet him you'd see that he really is a kool dude. Really radiates the darshan, but a very natural, open guy. I don't think he's interested one way or another if he's nominated for a Noble Peace prize. Why would he be? He's very different in personality than his guru, MMY.

I been to his christmas event in NY. Its a pure publicity stunt for his silver jubilee event. He is supposed to come at 6 PM. But he came at 8 PM and slept (psuedo meditation) for 20 minutes. woke up and started doing some wierd stuff....people started laughing...I have no idea why they were laughing.
People are infact started considering him as god. Recently i got an email from this cult group..this lady she had an accident...moments before a bus hit her, she said Jai Gurudev...thats it...nothing happened to her...WHAT A CRAP.....
So this year he is again nominated for Nobel Peace Prize...he must have begged the democrat to nominate him before the silver jubilee event for the sake of publicity....
I heard rumors that this guy moves in a Benz car...I wish someone can clarify this...

Lets do an analysis
AOL has atleast one course each month per state. Avergae cost per course - $250. Some states charge $300(NY).
Average number of people attending each course? atleast 10.(based on insider info)
So each month, he is making 10 * 250 = 2500 (average per state). Some states have 2 instructors. SO it could be double.
Even though each state has its own AOL group. lets take an average of 30 states. So his total income for each month in USA is 30 * 2500 = 75,000.
Per Annum = 75000 * 12 = 900000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, lets see how much he spends for each course
1. 3 day course - Almost all the courses are held at private houses, so infrastructure cost = 0
2. Food? - No food is served. All they have is potlucks.
3. Yoga mats? - no. students have to buy them.
4. Any free books? - Nope. We got to buy them.
5. How much does he pay for each teacher? These courses are held on weekends and most of the teachers actually volunteer their work.(insider info)
So where is this money going to? Tsunami and Earthquake relief? Dont think so.....
900K only from USA. Guys..just imagine what he is making from the rest of the world.
Sri Sri is a fraud. Soon enough he will be exposed. Anyone fooled by him should not feel badly -- he's one of the best actors I've seen. I feel sorry for him and all the people whose lives he has ruined.

Those "hundreds" of people transformed their own lives... and they are all just stupid enough to believe it had something to do with Sri Sri. And Sri Sri is just smart enough to take advantage of their stupidity, over and over and over again.
The first time I attended this AOL introduction talk by Khurshid Batliwala aka Bawa, I felt like these people are trying to wake people up and tell them its time to act.My life has changed ever since.My enthusiasm and energy levels have gone up. I have never met Sri Sri and dont intend so. I dont have any special feelings for him. But AOLs courses has helped me a great deal.Life in Mumbai is so less enthusiastic and stressful, people are so indifferent, I think a Art of Living thing helps. I am thankful to Sri Sri and his team for waking us up, whatever be their real intentions. The most important thing I learnt at AOL is that we should never doubt anybodys intentions.

I learned a technic and it is working for me. $250 is worth for the technic. I do not care what they do with my $250. I do not care whether he travels in a Benz car or stay in a 7 star hotel.
I think everyone can have their opinion, and let it be against Sri Sri.
Personally, I don't care whether he is nominated and whether he gets the Nobel prize.
When jesus died, how many really supported him? How many were against Buddha and Krishna. I am from Gujarat and I am well aware of how many people hate his decision and so hate him too.
Forget sprituality. I promote Al Gore and his movie in my office and there were people came and told me that do you really think he is doing the job for global warming? hell no, he is preparing for presidency.
So, how many example I give to prove my point that world is full of people who like to hate something. Just because that's human thing to do.

If you think that someone is not really acting against the environmental issue, you start doing it and also channalize the efforts of other people in the same direction too.

Curious:
If all these mentioned gurus are frauds, how come they become popular? I have seen tv informercials of Matha Amrutha. I was discussing about her with some family friends and they all said these are frauds. If someone is a fraud, their fame cannot last long , since people look forward to criticize every move. I have not personally met any of these gurus, so I cannot say the truth.
In any case, I am going to attend the course this week. Will see how it goes and will post my opinion next week.

No one has even commented on why Sri Sri is nomintated. He has founded the largest NGO in the world. The revenue from the courses goes directly to funding all of the service/humanitarian work AOL does. How is he a scammer? You should look into what you are bashing.

That's what they're telling you. Have you seen the balance sheet? One compiled by an independent auditing firm? No. They will never allow that to happen, because it would reveal just how much they are on the take.
Sri Sri is like any other religious leader. If you say he is a fraud because he collects money, then would you use the same logic to declare all the pastors preaching and collecting money frauds? If you say sri sri is a fraud because he moves around in Benz, then would you apply the same logic to the Pope who lives like a king?
There is a popular saying "Only a snake can see other snake's legs (a metaphor)". Likewise if you see a fraud in someone who is preaching to do yoga and attain god then that really tells lot about yourself.
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. I can live with what ever your think (how ever degrading) of him, but I hate it when you are a snob to call his follower fools.
