The Real Sri Sri Revealed

File under: The Siddhi of PR

Finally, a truthful media portrayal of the world fame-lusting Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
A South American TV personality has launched a television cartoon based on Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s teachings, choosing him as the main character.

The cartoon, “Plim Plim”, is aimed at children between two and five years old, the Art of Living Foundation said here.
Sri Sri takes yet another page from his own guru's playbook, seeing as TM™ does, that for the younger of those in the bath, the more thorough the brainwashing will be.

This sounds too good to be true. I will wait and try to get a chance to see it. Then show it to everyone.

I had been part of this movement for five years and I know quite a bit on how many things work here as I was a key organiser for many events of AOL in the past.

The conferences are created for two main purposes: Money and Publicity (in the same order). There is a fees for groups, NGOs and other organizations to be part of these conferences. AOL amasses a good deal of money in each and every of these conferences. But again it is mutual. This will help the NGOs and groups who pay and participate to network among themselves and others. Sri SRI has a plush ashram with good places and faclilities for conferencs and seminars.
Sri Sri also has a good media centre which provides a regular feed of news to the local and national press. The newspapers and journalists are well cultivated. These conferences will be covered in the national and local press.
Regarding the content that is being discussed in these conferences - they are just simple things. They talk of cliched solutions. There is no critical thinking or brainstorming which goes on here. I have been part of many such conferences by AOL - like Youth seminars, Seminars on Religious integration, Oppressed people and so on.
A main thing about these seminars are the projection of Sri Sri as the main source of all knowledge and wisdom. His personality is blown out of proportions as if he has answers for all questions of mankind. In fact he has none except some cliched regular politically correct answers. In this particular seminar his Sister is projected as the representative as it is a Women's seminar. It is a family culty affair. In AOL movement the main events are Sri Sri's Bday, his father Pitajis Bday, his sister BDAY, AOL foundation day, Gurupoornima and the rest of the main Hindu festivals.

cant believe Bhanu being projected as women's protagonist!! She used to suffer such severe stage fright, she'd be so nervous to speak in front of an audience!! Sri always wanted to project her as a "Devi"... that was always the ploy!! Bhanu is a dumb bimbette, married to a crafty husband with two sons eager to take on the reins of AOL. This third rate, low income group family is seeing such huge amounts of money, that they had never even dared to dream such an oppulent dream!! Ha!! Sri is a brilliant manupalator and his family is hanging on to his coat tails. God bless the innocent suckers who get cheated by him. He makes Madoff look like a saint.

I did Sahaj Samadhi course with Bhanu about 10 years back. At that time SSRS had authorized only Bhanu to teach this meditation. Reason given was that this being a 'high energy meditation' required very pure souls as teacher. Fees was Rs.500 (about $10) in Mumbai (which was a decent sum at that time). True to AOL duplicity, the registration form had printed column for 'donation' amount, instead of more straightforward word 'fees' (may be due to tax considerations).

It was a relaxed guided meditation session. No complaints on that. However, technique was pirated almost fully from that grand daddy of meditation-mart: MMY. Ironical, how MMY's spurned disciple took his revenge by hitting where it hurts most - the wallet!

Anyway, the real reason why Sahaj was reserved for Bhanu is not difficult to guess after all these years. In family run businesses, it is common for the patriarch to give monopoly rights of at least a part of his business to his incompetent son, so that after him this fellow will at least not starve.

Hi Dev,
I have done this course, 6 months ago, Fees incrased to Rs. 1500.00. Only 3 days, half hour each after 1st day giving Mantra to each seperately. It is highly advertised during the Advanced Course, so everyone has to do the course. Only money making business. Bhanu can not take other course because of reasons given by other bloggers. Actually, this was the course which opened by eyes about AOL and disclosed its true nature of money making. Thanks to Bhanudidi.

I am a Chinese residing in one of the South East Asian countries. My basic course teacher told me that I should attend the Gurupuja course at Banglore ashram to make me stronger and to make me connected to the Master and to erase all my past karmas.

I had to fill up a form and hand it to the local registered AOL office and if I was selected I would be sent an invitation letter. I got my invitation letter and left for Bangalore last year in October. I paid Rs 15,000 for the course plus USD50 for which I had to sign a form saying that it was a voluntary donation from me for the educational project

The 6days of the course was spent on chanting the mantra, it was a mistake for me to attend cos Sanskrit is a difficult language, I just could not chant even after so many repetitions, was very frustrated. There was nothing else in the course except Gurujis sister keeps telling stories about how divine and great her brother is. There were hundreds of people in Phase 1 and Phase 2. It does not need a mathematician to calculate how much of money was made.

I felt cheated, cos at the end of the course I was just as blur as the first day. The thing that grabbed my attention was the grand sari and jewellery worn by Gurujis sister, my buddy in the course told me that they were all designer sari costing over 15000 per saree and the diamonds and gems she wears not forgetting the designer branded bags she carry.

I realised at that point that it was all a money making scam. I hope they realise that the karma of cheating people using mantras will come back to them.

Feeling dissappointed I came back and stopped AOL completely. My good friend from Taiwan who went for the course this month said the same thing - she was even more disillushioned cos she was asked to make a donation of Rs500 to buy a LCD projector that was lost. The sister very sweetly said that this Gurupuja course would contribute towards this projector and one stupid idiot in the class stood up and volunteered to collect and the collection totalled RS100.0000.

I hope the world realise what a scam and farce this AOL is. Someone influential and impartial should look into the accounts and set the recrod straigh.

At the end of the course we are told that the course is a gift from the Guru and the donation of 15000 would go towards educating a child and we were given a toy like silver puja set which i dont think would cost more than 2000RS

Bhanu has been promoted as great singer crooning the AoL bhajans. The cult members swear that her voice transports them to a heavenly dimension. But ask anyone who is objective, her voice is squeaky.

Everything is fine, but the Art of Living People are also advertising that the cartoon film is made to spread the message of SSRS. Whether the cartoon film, is exposure or advertisement?

Sri Sri is doing good service in this world. He is a man of accomplished faith. Faith in himself is the basis for all he has accomplished through out this world. Rather than tearing down a Man of God, you all should be aspiring to be like him. Sri Sri is a gem. So much punishment could be awaiting you in the next life is you don't stop and consider your motivations and actions now, including your words.

Bhanu didi is now carrying REAL designer purses. Estimate, anything beyond USD 5,000. Dare ask her if it is fake or real, and she will give you the dirtiest, but spiritual of course, look ever, from the goddess who expects you to touch her feet and who looks down on anyone who is not rich. Literally, her glancing has been perfected over the years - up and down. She rather spend time with the rich, more specifically Bindya Jain, rather than anyone who does not enter that category.

Her courses are a collection of stuttering phrases that have no clarity. By the end of the course, you are not sure what you heard for 3, 4 days. For many of us, we paid sums even as high as 700 euros. If Sri Sri is on campus, all she wants to do is run to him instead of perform her duty. Talk about focus! And anyway, her courses are only about Guru stories and telling you how Sri Sri is the reincarnation of Swami Bramhananda Sawaswati. That is all she has in her brain.

Once Sri Sri asked me how I had liked her course. I gave him several feedbacks and then said 90% was spent in Guru stories which consequently made her never reach the goal of the course. He produced a proud smile and said that is how it should be. He loves Guru stories! Guru stories = brainwashing = his glory.

Bhanu loves bragging about how her CDs are sold worldwide, implying she is as famous as Madonna.

You have an almost 50 year old woman who thinks and behaves like a teenager. Is that what Sri Sri calls "spiritual evolution"? At least, she used to be cute and naive. With time, she has become a snob with signs of a lot of stress.
