Swami Nithyananda Keeps Falling

File under: Gurus Doin' Time

The gobs of counter-propaganda lobbed into the internets by his devotees have been unsuccessful. Swami Nithyananda is in some serious shit now:
Police said the charges were slapped on the basis of details filed by Central Crime Branch (CCB) police of Chennai and Coimabatore and also statements given by a former devotee of Nithyananda, who surrendered before the Tamil Nadu police earlier this month.

Based on these statements, police said two cases have been registered with other accusations under sub-sections. The sections included cheating, rape, defiling place of worship and public nuisance among others.
The depth of the pit that Nithyananda has fallen into is utterly astounding, epic, even almost divine. As high as he placed himself on his multiple gold thrones, as many times as he put his own picture higher than that of Ramakrishna and the other saints he was piggybacking on; all this seems to have gone into the formula which has determined the measure of his crash back to Earth, making the karmic geometry of this thing is off the chain.

PS: It just occurred to us that all this might not be as serious in India as it is in the States. Perhaps greening the right palms can be an adequate remedy for the swami. Please correct us if we're wrong.

While going through the whole turn of events at a glimpse, i thought of going to the root of the whole problem, and while tracing rajasekaran a.k.a nithyananda's antecedence, the guy had some of the following ingredients that made him click among the poor masses:
First and foremost, is his ability to mesmerise people with words and eyes.
Second, his touch therapy, which kindled basic instincts (part i, ii etc) in most young ladies.
Third, his sly approach in the way he handled girls (only one at a time)
Fourth, the way he seduced young women [and men?] with a smile darting across his face.
Fifth, his youthful body
Sixth, the fact that he knows his English, which is a must if you want to be a hi-fi swamiji getting respect cutting across boundaries, even as far as across the atlantic!!! USA!!!

One just have to see the YouTube section of "NithyanandaForever" to see how brainwashed a person can be. I am sure just like several other gurus, Nithyananda will come out of this without major problems. After all nothing is going to stay in people's memory after a few weeks and this mass-hypnotism will go on as ever. There is no hope of redemption for these hypnotized folks. They themselves have to break their bonds.

What more can satisfy you ? Its an indian who planted the cam and indians who exposed, indians who have been screaming, Indians who have framed the cases, Indians who who deserve the credit. But you sitting in your ramshackle joint in some unknown new mexican small town still think out of your ass that americans are better in this business. You are sorta pathetic.

Being an Indian , it is Indian scamijis I am familiar with. And their numbers have not been dwindling at all. That is eloquent testimony to the quality of masses.

Thank God for the few genuine ones , we are able to extricate ourselves.

Hindus want to obfuscate by impertinently citing sexual abuses by christian pastors. Recall the Grand Jury indictment in Philadelphia where a lot of them were penalised , defrocked.

What have we Indians done. Nothing much. A lot of people hungering for weird experiences , a high , would invariably get attracted to such nithys & ravishankars.

Only the earnest ( Mumukshu ) seeker would be able to steer himself to the appropriate Guru.

Kaanchi Paramacharya has dwelt at length on & condemning strongly the purveyors of instant/neo Vedanta , chakras ascending , pranayama-hathayoga-kundalini awakening gymnastics.

Without impeccable infrastructure of Ethics/Values one does not qualify at all.

Is it any wonder many hindus shunned & spurned Him after mock genuflections ??

The best path to get instant dispassion (vairagya) disenchantment with sex & to get anchored in perennial celibacy is to marry ( preferably arranged marriage) & live in India.

Just one week of managing the household , with chronic water scarcity , power cuts , cooking various dishes in the kitchen to satiate the diverse tastes of selfish , thankless , loveless members of the joint family & commuting to workplace to supplement the income---all these unfailingly made me yearn for only SLEEP/Peace .

Nothing else.

Lord Krishna categorically sums up while dwelling on His Vibhuthi Yoga , all Glory , all Knowledge belongs to Him/Her/It. Both Para & Apara vidhya.

What I find most irritating with many fanatical hindus is their avarice for oneupmanship.

If a White man or woman talks about Vedanta or any Scripture , does hatha yoga , learns Sanskrit/Tamil , chants any slokas , the overwrought hindu pounces upon him/her crying "inculturation " .

(Let go esoteric subjects. In mundane matters also , it has become extremely rare to come across an Indian who is trustworthy , punctual , easy to get along with)

It is only Ramana Bhagavan , His explanation of the Real meaning of Arunachala Dheepam , the Sthala Puranam of Arunachala that uprooted this mememymy tendency in me.

" Deepak chopra and his nonsense writings are ripped apart in this blog" by Sridhar.

That blogger published a letter written to his brother who was with art of living. Which was a welcome relief in the midst of too much of jaigurudevs & manufactured halo around Ravishankar.

I sent Jody's Guruphiliac blog to him as obviously Jody does it far more scintillatingly without being stymied by political correctness. Far more focussed also.

Hence any Indian blogger belatedly " ripping apart " any avatard owes it all to Jody & many such American pioneers. ( Stuart , Yunus & others)

That blogger had called Ravishankar a " useful person ".

What's interesting to me is reading the comments in the Indian media. What's sad is neither Indians or westerners have any appreciation for real qualifications for gurudom. Madhusudandasji did sadhana since he was 13 for 30 years in caves, realized after intense sadhana with a guru, continued to do sadhana for decades in extremely isolated villages in the desert of Gujarat, and then started public meditations when he was 80 ! These days people do a few years of light yoga and call themselves gurus! Yoga is not entertainment but sadly it has sunk to that level. There are many people that have had experiences higher than this nutbag and they are householders and they know that they are not gurus. They continue to do sadhana because they have real faith and humility. Thank goodness for blogs like this, maybe some people will grow up from this pathetic experience.

Appalling is the wanton twist being given by rajiv malhotras & similar hindutvavadis calling it (sic) Christian conspiracy with the sole objective of protecting nithy. So much so his promiscuity is also being justified by opinion makers called ' journalists '.

Now he is being referred to as a "fallen yogi " who needs to be exonerated. Preposterous. Was never a guru or sanyasi to start with.

rajiv malhotra & his sycophants came out with a much hyped book called 'Invasion of the sacred'.

Indians are solely responsible for abusing/invading/misrepresenting/misinterpreting the Sacred.Indians simply excel in fingerpointing at the West.

They would go to any length to prevent so called " conversions".

Lenin Karuppan says:-

"In Los Angeles , nithy once donned jeans t-shirt & went with his girlfriends oops female devotees Ranjitha included, to a striptease joint. Was teasing & fooling around with the women there making them sit on his lap. To the shocked devotees he called it a step in overcoming desires; at one point egged on his indian devotees to take off their clothes & dance. Which they did.

At once , nithy & his followers were shown the door by the owner of that joint".

Even Buddha had to contend with false prophets.

It is our erroneous conclusion that all who parody words like enlightenment , realization are ACTUALLY seeking Mukthi. Many are full of desires & people like Ravishankars etc cater to their needs.

Soothsayers , astrologers , palmists the whole lot exist & survive because there is a demand for them from the masses.

Ramana Bhagavan had barely ten earnest devotees around. The crowds swelled much later. Ditto with Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar. He was considered "crazy" by many.

Keshab Chandra & his brahmo samaj with its watered down marketing of hinduism was highly popular then. Narendra who later became Swami Vivekananda was one of those singing keerthans in brahmo samaj.

Ramakrishna P walked in one fine morning, bluntly telling all if keshab chandra is a candle , my Narendra is veritably the SUN which embarrassed Vivekananda initially. But Vivekananda just could not stay away from Gurudev & left brahmo samaj. The rest is history.

Sri. Ramakrishna Paramahamsar gives a brilliant analogy. At times a frog in the process of catching small water snakes & consuming them inadvertently takes a huge snake in its mouth. Not realising its stupidity the frog is unable to relinquish it. And the huge snake struggles unable to extricate itself free. The tussle goes on.

The same with the multitudinous flocking to avatards. The moment one feels he/she is not my cup of coffee one should quietly leave.
Avaricious Ravishankars , Nithys , Ammachis would never let you go.

Another Tamil actress in Sex Swami saga, Wednesday March 24, 2010, Bangalore

After Ranjitha, it's Tamil actress Yuvarani who's now purportedly involved in a romp with self-proclaimed godman Swami Nityananda. A video which surfaced on the Internet allegedly shows Yuvarani and Nityananda engaging in sexual activities in the nude.

Although the video is posted on Youtube, access is currently disabled with a pop-up which says that the site cannot be displayed due to its extreme pornographic content. TV channels couldn't air the video either owing to a Karnataka High Court stay order on airing any sleazy video of the swami.

Meanwhile, Yuvarani has filed a petition with the Chennai police commissioner, requesting him to ensure that the video is taken off the Internet. In the petition, the actress said, "I'm not in a sexual relationship with Swami Nityananda and I'm hurt by the ongoing propaganda." When contacted, Police Commissioner T Rajendran refused to divulge any details of the request.

Though Yuvarani wasn't available for comment, sources close to her confirmed that she and Ranjitha were friends and they used to visit the swami regularly. The two actresses have also done Tamil films together.

According to sources, Nityananda has an ashram in Los Angeles where he used to go regularly with Ranjitha and Yuvarani. "The two actresses used to accompany him to striptease parties in the US," said the source, adding that Nityananda used to wear denim jeans and T-shirts when he was in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court took up the petition filed by Nityananda asking for a stay on proceedings for hearing yesterday. It has adjourned the case until Thursday and has issued notices to the state government and the police asking them to submit documentary evidence in the next hearing.

You should read "Swami Vivekananda: a reassessment". Hard to get hold of maybe but that is the beauty of the internet.

Vivekananda had many faults, too many for me to list here. As a philosopher he deserves respect. As a man that repressed his libido he deserves credit. As everything else, he wasn't unlike most people.

But i will mention a few anyway.

He once told a friend that he doubted that God existed because every time he prayed he got no answer.

His sadhana wasn't the product of much practice.

He liked hot chillis with his food which gave him digestion trouble. (anything for a high eh?)

He was probably bisexual and led Sister Nivedita on a long haul ride before telling her he basically liked her but was incapable of pleasing her, and then letting her free.

His college marks were average.

He was racist. He said black people are ugly.

He once got totally drunk. And he ate fine food, including beef.

He was a chain smoker.

He contradicts himself almost all the time.

His scientific bent in the Raja Yoga book is pure psuedo science.

I think that will do. You get the picture.

As to his Brahmo Samaj rearing, it appears in many parts of his philosophy independently of Ramakrishna. Vivekananda could be said to have made Ramakrishna AND made Ramakrishna's heart into a head. THis is all besides the "dirt" on Ramakrishna himself.

So i respectfully disagree with the poster that wanted to elevate one human being over other human beings by making out that there are genuine "gurus". THere is no such thing as a guru, genuine or not. THere are people, and some people are nice people and some people are arseholes. No need for any guru there.

As to this Nithyananda thing, i think that he obviously sees the contradictions in the cultural lifestyles of the west and the east and he decided to manipulate people from both places. This just proves that the guru is not God, any more than a human body can be perfect. Moreover, it proves that attempts to clash culture are almost automatically doomed to failure. People go on what is true, and what is certainly not true is some absolute authority in the shape of a human person. This "swami" is too clever for his own good. He should move to the USA or the UK and drop the orche robe and just have some friends.

in that case why not revere a normal human being who lives a simple yet honest life with no need to intentionally hurt anyone

not even for the purpose of self realisation

noone needs to indulge in unsavory activities ie eating beef or drinking, to realise they are wrong

in that case this vivekananda was no more enlightened, even less then, the average joe on the street

She looked very manly, he was in a quasi gay relationship with Ramakrishna even though his feelings were mixed when they first met, and he asked her to join him in India to "do some good work", but he failed to tell her what it was about even after she had stayed there for months. Eventually, they pilgrimaged to a cave in the Himalayas where he told her that he could not please her and he fled from a cave with a lingam in it after he told her.

I can see why you may be culturally distressed at such revelations, but you shouldn't be suprised in the least that human beings, for the most part, have sexual thoughts and sometimes they act on them.

What you really want to do now is not take my word for it, but get hold of a copy of the book i mentioned. There is no point in me telling you about it all.

No it was not an affair in the normal sense of that word. But he manipulated her emotionally into a kind of relationship with him and then he told her she could leave him if she wanted to, and after he died she left the ashrams.

They exchanged letters that have sexual innuendos which you personally might want to think are teasing and playing games, but the reality is much deeper and more convoluted than that.

So i can tell by the nature of your questions that you are in denial that Swami Vivekananda was a human being.

While I find it quite clear that Ramakrishna experienced homoerotic desire for Vivekananda, it seems it wasn't reciprocated by the object of that desire. But clearly, Ramakrishna's "anxious desire" for Vivekananda, and later, Purna, did have a great effect on Swamiji. So much so that he rarely spoke of Ramakrishna in public in the West, and he pretty much wiped tantra, shaktism and bhakti right out of the Vedanta Society and Ramakrishna Math doctrine, adding his own "manly man," heroic version of neo-Vedanta.

Regarding Margaret Nobel and Vivekananda, I find it more likely he refused her as he understood that if he abdicated his vows, it would bring about the dissolution of the young Ramakrishna Order.

It is an erroneous joke that a guru is inevitably all knowing and supposedly an infallible entity. Who ever started it, has caused a lot of confusion in seeking and knowing the truth. Either the disciples began to portray their gurus as flawless and the gurus caught up with that idea or the other way around. Whichever way, a spiritual guru needs to be flawless only in his self awareness and he could still be stupid in everything else. Despite his self awareness he may continue to make "worldly" mistakes and obviously be ready to face the consequences of such mistakes as well. Its a wonder when the gurus teach there is nothing called perfection still portray themselves as worldly perfect or get into a denial mode when pointed at their worldly imperfections.
