Sri Sri No Go Boom

File under: The Siddhi of PR

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was in Kosovo yesterday, where he claimed he was bringing "the benefits of yoga and its ancient spiritual knowledge, which is much needed in Kosovo today." Someone in Kosovo responded in kind... by phoning in a bomb threat:
"Sri Sri had just started a guided meditation after delivering a public talk when the personnel of a United Nation bomb squad intervened and led the evacuation. No bomb was found at the venue and the police are investigating the matter..."
There's nothing like being exposed to a bit of faux danger to keep your heroics quotient (and hopes for a certain, hotly lusted-after laurel) up.

well his, " ancient spiritual knowledge", is just another word for spreading hindu nationalism in a place where people are allready strugling with religion. The people of Kosovo told the foreing religious freedom fighters to go home and so they altso told sri sri.

Sri Sri's Lila?

He foretold it all to a few intimate diciples.

500 years from now, it will be a miracle of precognition come true.

Jody, if you hate Sri Sri so much and think everything about him and his organization is such a sham, then why don't you contact appropriate authorities and get them investigated? Such as IRS....
Like this comment on Kosovo, there is no news article saying that the bomb scare was directed towards Sri Sri or his organization. Your comments are just yours, right? There is no basis here.

Please don't get me wrong, your comments just seem to be showing hatred towards an individual(s) without clear basis.

why don't you contact appropriate authorities

Because I'm fully satisfied by simply skewering him in this blog.

From what I see nowadays in my city in India as well as other places where my relatives live & who are closely involved with AOl,all the comments of the people put me in doubt.Because from where I sit,it seems as though people are more attached to their Art of Living Teachers rather than to Sri Sri.Some of these teachers are as or even more revered than him & Sri Sri too has provided quite a few of these guys with offices & staff of volunteers of their own.In my view Sri Sri's organisation at the operational level is quite transparent & open & allows a lot of initiative & creativity. His centres in urban India publish info handouts with info on who is incharge of the money, who is the media co-ord,even locality & colony level co-ordinators & from my first hand knowledge courtesy my family,it is devoid of any chain of command.Rather it is more like a State Assembly or Council with a city co-ordinator or State co-ordinator as the first among equals. They are doing really good things to bring warring Hindu castes & factions together as well as bringing Muslims & Christians closer to the Spiritual aspect of Yoga.A lot of Art of Living courses are now being held in Sacred Places of other communities,so I naturally feel a doubt towards the detractors' mails. They have every right to doubt this guy but he does not function like a Muktananda etc.He functions more like a Socio-Spiritual Leader who discourages personal relationships.
