Daddy Yoga Speaks

File under: The Siddhi of PR

He's the undisputed original gangsta' of hatha yoga. It all started with BKS Iyengar trying to cure himself of TB:
Guru ji started practicing yoga to cure his own illness, tuberculosis. But a fortuitous meeting with violinist Yehudi Menuhin in 1952 opened his doors to the West. He simplified complex yoga asanas, or poses, and performed thousands of demonstrations for the benefit of his new audience, transforming a mystical secret practice into a science, therapy and art accessible to everyone. The focus is on precision and proper alignment of the body.
And now we've got "Bling-Bling" Bikram Choudhury shoving himself down our throats as he attempts to copyright what BKS Iyengar brought to the West for free. Surely, another sign of the end-times.

Mr. B.K.S. Iyengar is a true saint. At 90 years of age he continues to oversee the medical classes where people from all over the world come to heal. If there is someone who deserves the Nobel Prize it is Mr. Iyengar.

Who nominated Sri Sri and Ammachi for the Nobel Prize? If you go to the Nobel Prize website it says list of people who can nominate is secret. A senator here, a politician there sending in a letter to nominate Me Me and Amma darling isn't official nominating.

Jody, do you know if these two have been officially nominated?

This happened last year with the help of the same suck-up politician.

Right! but this suck-up politician is not on the Nobel Prize list of secret nominators.

Sure you can submit Sri Sri for the Nobel Prize, as this Senator has done, but it would carry no weight. Get the picture :-)

The Nobel Prize website gives the procedures for nominating. Take a look at it.

Hi Jodie,
This behaviour is extreamely common amongst many of those Indian Gurus who came to the west. One does the adventure and if successful then the others follow just like sheep who cannot think for themselves and when the money intake lessens then they imploy new strategies by stealing those from the other successful Gurus.
Good examples of such Gurus are the Maharishi who sent his close followers to copy Sri Yogananda's techniques which he claimed was his. SYDA's gurumayi whose latest stimulation technique was teaching western based psychology when detected by her interlectual followers. Sri Kripalu stole the teachings of the Iskcon founder and just add his own bits such as He being both incarnations of Mahaprabhu and Sri Krishna in one so as to sex up his female disciples worldwide. They are all very low creatures just sucking the blood of innocent followers or maybe those who will gladly give their blood to them. Since the western countries is the pot of goal, they will never stop comming out with new ideas even concocted just to make money and exploit. Imagine a human being trying to rid his/her karma by washing themselves with loads of freshly cut lemons and flushing it into the toilet till its blocked. How stupid is that and jackasses have bought into it, I mean even rich educated people. That was Sri Nirmala mataji. Hence is why they all flock to the west like ants to make big money and fame, because they see westerners as stupid.

For a minute I thought you were describing an American multinational or a western country doing business in India or any other developing country.

Me thinks gurus learnt it from westerners.

Now we are seein Indians as greedy, lying, blood sucking degenerates! The Swiss are Nazi collaboratin bastards! Catholic priests are pedophiles! Even the noble Jehova Witness has somethin to hide! As Bob Dylan said, "It's gonna get better before it gets worse..."

I think it's time for the space aliens to wipe out this fungus called the human race! Let them start with Sri Sri and work their way up!

Does America even need asana if it can't turn of the TV? A thousand years from now will someone write "Couch Asana: This posture numbs the mind in times of stress and ill-health, reducing one's awareness of pain, restlessness and agitation."

"I think it's time for the space aliens to wipe out this fungus called the human race! Let them start with Sri Sri and work their way up!"

Usually Jody chastizes people who believe in Space Boogeymen, though what with OJ, Hilary-Care and Newt Gingrich all back in the news, and the George Bush invading Iraq again, Space Boogeymen are our only hope.

Yes, Iyengar is a saint for sure, even if I didn't like his commentary on the Yoga Sutras. That Bikram has intentionally copied the fast food model for yoga is a little worrisome, though as one of the desk-bound office slaves, I've got to hand it to him for the idea about turning up the thermostat to help flexibility.

Hell, maybe more "mystical secret practice" is what we need. If Yoga means "stretching" to most folks, and that means "get-rich-quick exercise scam" to the more entrepenurial, maybe it's time to bring back the other seven limbs, the ones with frightening names like "Restriction" "Practice" "Concentration" and "Dissolution".

To Anonymous about "yoga numbs the mind". Yes, it certainly has numb the minds of Indians, which is why they are so aloof about their high caste treatment to the lowcaste and the "extinction of females" in varing categories, ranging from widow extinction, "honour killing", dowry killing and female foeticide" So you can call it "Zoombie mentality", because Indians are unable to see these cold-hearted and mindless autrocities.
I personally experience the shocking treatment of the low caste ranging from doing dirty work and voicelessness. Here are some of my experiences, in an Ayurvedic hospital, the doctor bandaged my cut on my knee, left the dirty/bloody cloth bandages for the low caste to clean, which I disposed to prevent diseases. In N.India, the great Brahmans feed the low caste, once, yearly to show their kindness, by yelling and dropping "prasad" from a distance on the broken leaves on the dirty ground where liver parasites are commonly contracted from human stool. This certainly indicates"Numbing of the mind", but it appears only those with "power, status etc can practice that kind of "numbness" to others. No one would treat their pets in the west like that unless the person is mentally ill or on drugs.
Let's examine the greatest "female gender extinction" in the world through female foeticide, which is commonly practiced in India, to the extent where some parts of the sub-continent have a ratio of 40males to 10females. Presently, this is resulting in shortage of females, which they import brides from other parts of India. As usual the blame for this must be the west who exported those machines to the Pure Indians. This suggests, that Indians love to blame the west for everything terrible, whilst they enjoy the products of the western invention and the lifestyle it has provided. For your information its a big money making business amonst the middle class, rich and the doctors who only wants to live up their new crazed selfish dreams, since their knowledge of the west. You brag of yoga, oldest culture, greatest religion, but you don't seem to have common sense to judge "right from wrong" and see things from an objective basis so as to alleviate the problems. Is that due to your "Numb minds"?
