Über-Kreepy Gurus Slammed In Texas

File under: Hands Where They Don't Belong and The Siddhi of PR

Kripalu Maharaj, (aka Kreepalu,) and his formerly Stateside protegé, Swami Prakashanand Saraswati, (aka PrakashakaBoomBoom,) just got to see the cat jump 50 miles out of the bag. Here are some of the highlights:
The bathroom was next to Prakashanand's bedroom, she remembered. "As I came out, I saw him," she said. "I told him I was excited for that afternoon's program. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bedroom." The woman said Prakashanand pushed her back against the door and groped her breasts and buttocks before quickly leaving...
Another victim shares:
Leaving the ashram one day in the early 1990s, she entered the guru's bedroom to say goodbye. He grabbed her and pulled her down, kissing her and fondling her breasts, she said, adding that she broke away. She lived on the ashram for more than 15 years and said no similar event happened again.
We guess she just wasn't his type.

And yet another victim had this story to tell:
She said she was called to Prakashanand's room many times as a young adult, where, she said, the guru would tell her to lock the door behind her, and then kiss and fondle her. She spent the night in his room, next to his bed, on several occasions, she said. In the middle of the night, she said, he would wake her up and fondle her.
What more can be said? A whole lot more. Read it here.

Our advice to PrakashakaBoomBoom? Kiss that $10 million goodbye and take sanctuary with the slippery salamander that is your own guru, because folks in Texas are going to have little patience for a handsy Swami whose lust turned him into the Devil's playground.

Jody, is this one of those "tantric dynamics" where people are transformed by their sexual encounters with gurus who have suggested abstinence?:

"...Prakashanand stressed abstinence for single adults.... His writings warn that sex can cause a worshipper to "fall from his devotions." Several of the women who questioned the advances, however, said they were told that the gurus were "gracing" them, or preparing them to realize God, by agreeing to be intimate with them."

Sounds to me like your assertions in respect of that creep Swami Vishwananada, that this might be the doorway to profound spiritual transformation....or might it instead be that some of the students involved are:

"...in therapy to try to understand what happened..."

because far from getting 'transformed' they experienced:

"... emotional upheaval, shame and embarrassment."?

But that was probably some failure of "tantric psychological dynamics" on the part of the students, wouldn't you say?..........

wouldn't you say?

You got me.

What I would say is that it's possible that the transgressive encounters between Kreepalu, PrakashakaBoomBoom and their women, and Sri Smily and his boys, could still have some value as engines of transformative transgression.

...and yes, I'm nitpicking at you (a) because I felt humiliated and shamed at your comments about my lack of understanding of 'tantric psychological dynamics' and (b) because I still think you have a blind spot about this sexual stuff - in the midst of one of the best blogs that exist about it.

....OK, how about we call such 'transformative' experiences what they are, which is deep woundings on top of which there's sometimes a kind of jumping out into transcendence because the wound can't be processed. And you can clearly see the 'enlightenment' of people such as Eckhart Tolle and Barry Long, and even Osho Rajneesh in just such a frame - profound emotional anguish becomes a leap into the non-dual. But the wounding is left behind, untouched, because the leap has occurred in the mental, not the emotional dimension of the person's being. And what kind of enlightenment is that, although we are used to calling it 'a full enlightenment'?

You called me on inconsistency. That's not really nitpicking.

I felt humiliated and shamed at your comments about my lack of understanding of 'tantric psychological dynamics

Ah! An opportunity to remember that we aren't the ones who feel shame!

I still think you have a blind spot about this sexual stuff

If you mean I don't regard these experiences as damaging, you would be wrong. I don't always write about it because that's the most obvious feature of these events. It's like saying that the rain is going to make things wet.

in the midst of one of the best blogs that exist about it.

If you're talking about this blog, then I graciously accept the compliment.

what kind of enlightenment is that

The only kind there is. The condition of the organism (including that organism's mind) doesn't really have much bearing on it, does it?

Is it really 'the only kind there is'? How come we so readily and customarily accept that those kind of 'enlightenments' carry with them an inevitable trail of emotional wounding, power plays and disgracefully immature behavior from beings who have supposedly reached the pinnacle of human consciousness? Surely there's something completely and utterly wrong with this picture? Personally, I don't buy it any more than I buy that pernicious nonsense about we not being the ones who experience shame.

And yes, I was complimenting your blog.

In terms of an understanding of the underlying reality of divinity, yes. There is only one kind of underlying divinity.

How come we so readily and customarily accept that those kind of 'enlightenments' carry with them an inevitable trail of emotional wounding, power plays and disgracefully immature behavior from beings who have supposedly reached the pinnacle of human consciousness?

Because regardless of our status as one who may know themselves as the underlying divinity, we are still and always just animals with language skills.

Surely there's something completely and utterly wrong with this picture?

Just as there would surely be something wrong with any picture you replace it with.

Personally, I don't buy it any more than I buy that pernicious nonsense about we not being the ones who experience shame.

Suit yourself.

Does divine grace usually come in the form of fondling and groping? Uber-kreepy is putting it mildly. The latest women to come forward learned of Prakashanand's indictment on 20 counts of indecency with a child. Of course Kripalu's footsteps include rape charges. Is it a wonder that these gurus are barred from so many countries? Maybe real bars in the form of prison would help keep more children safe.

Chuck has made the best comment on this specific story so far re: "Petey" (a Barsana Dham official, don't forget -- one of five at the tippy top of this "organization"). Peter S should just have told the truth and said: "I wear blinders, earplugs, and a muzzle -- and only see, hear, and speak what my guru tells me."
The point is: another corrupt cult has been exposed -- and this time on a grand scale. If people are still willing to blindly follow such "kreeps," then at the very least keep the children out of there. Don't surrender the innocent to the blatantly non-holy (to say the least) actions of these men posing as God almighty in their "magical kingdoms."

copping feels and being a dissembling liar is just being a pervert molester and power abuser, where is the consciousness in it? if these poor kids make something of it that is largely of their own doing. What choice have they? let's just call stuff what it is, if this type of spiritual culture did not try to suppress so much, people might not be afraid to see with their own eyes and think for themselves.I for one think the transgressive path is very limited if not downright in question, of course we cannot possibly avoid, disappointment , disillusionment, in fact these are the great teachers, but to in any way to justify what kreepy and bottomswat do is to aid and abet underdeveloped sickos.Don't give them any credit for anything!
Jody you need to get laid!

I have seen the work of sex-mad guru in Romania. His name is Gregorian Bivolaru and his money making operation is out of control and involving every sort of racist conspiracy theory.

Bivolaru turned his dogs of hell (read yoga teachers-cum-thugs) MISA on International Yoga Federation leadership when they chucked him out for running a sex business under the guise of a yoga school.

The latest MISA hatchet job is a 72 year old lecturer and human rights activist, Seppo Isotalo, he was their supporter until they tried blackmailing him with sex when he discovered proof of their anti-yogic activities.

More can be read on this forum thread some of it in English:

Daniela Dae - Bivolaru girl named in human trafficking indictment in human rights worker honey trap

Much more you can read in the English sections exmisa.ro and exmisa.net

The photo from the newspaper story says it all. Kreepalu and Ashcan Saraswati are part of a staged scene out of a Hare Krishna painting. These guys and so many others, including the many Christian devotional sects give credence to the notion that drama and emotionality in spiritual exercises tend to lead to just this sort of thing, with males anyway. Just like sexual criminals rarely change, these guys and their ways are not going to change. I must agree with Chuck. If these guys had any humanity left in them, they would go voluntarily to Dime Box and agree to be immediately rope drug.
