Sri Sri's Crayons Come Out

File under: Gurubusting and The Siddhi of PR

The analysis which led Sri Sri to this solution to the problem of religious terrorism must be a landmark in infantile reasoning by a noted guru:
Noted spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar on Friday suggested a blend of knowledge of all traditions, including the teachings of Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and indigenous faiths, to end conflicts.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the idiot-savant guru, still trying to capitalize on the tragedy of the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Have you heard that Oprah's up to 200 pounds! Now that there is a shame! I'd love to see She She swell to those porportions and then ride on a little grey distempered donkey while his students laid down palm leaves and shouted Hosanas! Soon enough this fellow will turn in upon hisself like his own teacher Mugharishi did. There will be a great devouring of swollen heads and asses, plus a lot of weepin and gnashin of false teeth... Chuck is predictin that this fellow is on his way out!

Swami Ramdev says India should attack Pakistan. Now that is how a true Yogi speaks. He is more popular in India than Sri Sri for this reason only. He understands the ordinary Hindu's anger for Islam. Sri Sri went as Government's emissary to the Kashmiri separatist groups but did not achieve much success. His Gandhian approach will not do. Sri Sri can play Gandhian mediator between warring Hindu castes & tribes like he did in the case of Gujjar agitation but his peacenik approach & talk of 'One World Family' in times of Islamic Terror war and Christian evangelical campaigns in the poor tribal belts of India is not practical. Ramdev's approach of taking the fight to the enemy's door is best.

Jai Baba Ramdev !

WRONG! Ramdev has just got his nose in the ass of the BJP/RSS. It's marketing, just like Sri Sri, and just as idiotic.

Note to BJP/RSS defender: the RSS is India's equivalent to America's KKK, or Hitler's National Socialism. I reject all of these as ignorant mind poison, and will not allow any defense of these to be posted here.

Howsoever you hate Ravi Shankar, he has been appointed by the Government of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir,as a member of the Sri Amarnath Shrine Board, the body which looks after one of the holiest Hindu shrines - the Amarnath cave. Dedicated to Lord Shiva , Amarnath was discovered in the 19th century by a Muslim goatherd who noticed a cave with a natural Shiva Lingam made entirely of snow in the high uninhabited part of the Himalayas in Kashmir. Ravi Shanker has been appointed there as he is accepetable both to the Hindus as well as the separatist Kashmiri Muslims as a Hindu Yogi who has been working amongst the Kashmiri people since last 15 years despite all the dangers of Islamic terrorism as well as Hindu fundamentalism. The news of his appointment incidentally was broken by a Pakistani newspaper. Here is the link :-

We don't hate Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, but we love truth above any government... Who cares about government appointments and outer wordly prestigious things, it's only bla bla bla - not very liberating.. rather they are further preventions from TRUTH..

Hey Jody,

I must appreciate your efforts in criticising all the Indian spiritual gurus. Probably you must print a magazine of your own..You will do better business than these gurus.

Efforts man in criticising and giving these gurus more publicity for their good work.

Poor You!!

Janaki, if you knew more about Jody, the purpose of this blog and many of the people who comment here, you would know that many of us have had a keen interest in the spiritual wisdom of India. Many of us have studied closely with the various teachers criticized here. We have seen first hand the darker side of teachers who become deluded and abuse the power they have gotten not from God but from their students. Many of these teachers present themselves as God incarnate. Their true mission is to glorify themselves, not elevate their students. In your enthusiasm with spirituality, try to remember that most of us here had the same level of enthusiasm ourselves until we saw first hand what was going on. This is not to say there are no true Gurus but they are unlikely to be plastering every wall and pole with their photographs or charging large sums of money to learn a breathing technique they say was given to them by God but can be learned in YMCAs all over the world for very little.

Betty, if that is the case when why is the crticism so harsh. Let me tell you some of these gurus work really very hard to bring about a change in the society. If you are focussed on the leader (guru) himself then one will not get entangled with the teachers and instructors. After all they are just channels for the main guru isnt it??Where there is a will there is way. When any spiritual organisation grows, its bound to have politics because there are too many devotees and people also involved

Janaki, in the West we have known little about Gurus until the 20th century. Americans particularly have been quite an innocent bunch. If a man came who had charisma and claimed to be an embodiment of God, many of us would have taken his words at face value and simply believed him. We would not have had thousands of years of cultural experience to balance our child like perceptions. As a young person, I noted how Indians would understand what my guru said as opposed to how I took his words. If he told me to move across country and do this or that, I began to think how to do this and do it right now!. The Indians simply said, "Yes, yes..." and that was the end of it. MANY of us in the West have lost jobs, savings, family, including our own children, to these gurus. MANY have lost their inspiration, their private purpose and their sanity to gurus. Almost every prominent male guru who has come to the US has engaged in sexual and financial criminality. The women have caused trouble as well. They break up married couples by favoring the men and take huge sums of money out of the country, helping the poor here not at all. Some at guruphiliac attack the notion of "Guru". Others simply want these people to live up to the basic meaning of the word or go away.
