Leaving A Nitwit
File under: Gurubusting and The Siddhi of PR
A few days back a reader pointed us toward the Leaving Nityananda Institute website. Think Leaving Siddha Yoga, but without the hot guru addicted to shopping. As usual, it appears to be a case of narcissism running amok:
Swami Chetanananda teaches that it is wrong to break connections with the guru. He ridicules, denounces and threatens students who leave him and speak openly about their experiences with him. Even so, more than seventy members of the Institute severed their connections to Swami Chetanananda between 1994 and 2000. This constitutes nearly half of the average active membership of the group.Swami Chetanananda, (no relation to the great Swami Chetanananda of the St. Louis Vedanta Society,) is one of the three

Somewhere the leavers of a outfit fail to trigger the sympathy. Especially when they were having a party time once within the outfit and then declare on a day the party is over and start a blog.
When under occlusion, both the fauxru and the fauxciple are hand in hand and play it into each other's brains, but once the koolaid dried up, the fauxciple squarely blaming the fauxru is unjustified. They demand koolaid
originally and it was served up but
later on, the fauxciple can get pure and de occluded just because they can walk out and gather people and write a blog?
Once partners in crime, then they are criminals for a lifetime, atleast until as long the fauxru is blamed and scorched.
At the end of an orgy, everyone had their own share of meat and juice, no one can get up and walk
claiming to be still a virgin !
I do believe there is a healing process when people wake up from these gorgies, and internet allows instant communication of such. The EX Ammas have their own yahoo group so they keep it somewhat in the group.. deluded occluders deserve to heal, Any Guru who sets up business knows that they will be talked about, I don't think they would do it otherwise.
That said, there is a Buddhist teaching I've run across a few times that i believe says something like " no one can deceive you"

This URL leads to a four part series the Oregonian newspaper did on Chetananda and his organization. Chetananda and his institute are located in Oregon.
It was (and remains to be) an outstanding piece of investigative journalism.
Is there any website for those coming out of Nithyananda dhyanapeetam?I'm fighting hard to make my husband come out of this Nithyananda ashram. Is there anybody who had come out of this cult & lead a normal life?

Not that I am aware of. But if you find one or create one yourself, I'll note it on the blog.

Right, but not necessarily relevent. If a former disciple is claiming that all responsibility falls on the guru, I wouldn't agree with or encourage that. The attitude that I'd take is more like, "When I was younger, I had certain ideas and beliefs and desires that led me to follow this guru. But now, with the benefit of experience, I see some delusion in my decision to become and remain a follower. I now understand more about my own desires, as well as things about the guru that were previously hidden. I want to share all this openly, so that my hard-won experience may benefit not only myself, but others faced with similar situations."
I don't look at it as a matter of having sympathy for the leavers of an outfit. The more important point is whether they're sharing information that might be useful to those who lack their particular perspective and experience.

But Stuart,I cant imagine people spending years together (25 years sometimes), infact the urge to start a blog happens to leavers who spent longer years only. I suspect that the leavers always knew or smelt things are fishy, still they hang around because the koolaid supply was aplenty. The eventually leave only when the koolaid supply is cut due to shortage of supply.
DFJ at dimebox would agree with me that it is difficult to supply koolaid all the timeand some day a kick up the arse seem to be highly inevitable. So drinking koolaid knowing well that it is a K A is a crime in my understanding.
The 'many years after' leavers now can turn the table around and every word spoken by the fauxru, which then gave them a high, now suddenly can be interpreted as the turn off.
Particularly the anonymous cribbers who dont show a face but tell tales and testimonies which needs to be credible???
Its not that the leaver realized that KoolAid is bad for health, but the KoolAid supply has been stopped to him/her is what makes him/her/them leave and start a blog. KoolAid must be tasting lot more sweeter than the truth itself. KoolAid infact is what most of the inmates of a outfit seek and thurst for. Im aware of people who knew the KoolAid supply but still drench them in it. When they start a leaver's blog they have managed to have the cake and eat it too.
It gives such a high, that never they want to spill the beans, when they are so full of the aid. It appears, even the 'awakening' may not equal such a high. The KoolAid is here to stay and the millions are lovin' it.
Now the question whether do they get a regular supply of KA or some day it just got stopped, quite in a unceremonious manner, will decide yet another new blog in the shpere next.

Da Free Jack has asked me to inform you not to invoke his name without prior written permission, semblance! He is telling me that with all that golden weed you smoke and all those wild Indian girls you are runnin with, you can't tell koolaide from a cow pie! He says that when a whipped dog finally turns on his master and bares a little tooth, it's at least a beginnin in the return to man status!
I once went to this man's place in Portland, Oregon when I was in the area for a used auto parts convention! It was real quiet and clean and I was wishin I could ride my mule up and down the hallways while Da Free Jack hee hawed and dropped plop! But it was not to be...

That's assuming everyone knew of the crimes and stayed. Big jump in assumption, as many I know left cults when they discovered the crimes and their truth. There can be many stages of unwinding from hidden betrayals of this magnitude once they are discovered.
Others make the choice to stay while the koolaide is being passed out, all the while knowing of the crimes. Some even stay to build business interests within communities and the additional contacts this creates.
The thought process, emotional attachment and community involvement built over years of cult involvement can limit the ability to read with critical thinking and make the choice to integrate the truth of the crimes, and then leave. It's not something simple to unwind and walk away from. Life within a cult, given enough time, can narrow one life and its exposure to the world tremendously. Walking away from all of this personal heartfelt (and financial investment) does not happen with the simple clap of a hand. Once the threshold of ability live in denial to the extent of remaining is breached, the process of coming out the otherside is not done over night.
Reading the URL someone posted earlier in this thread about the Nityananda Institute helps to spell this out. Other literature on cults also outlines these facts.
Abuse issues are another factor. These can take years to begin to surface in the magnitude of damage done and PTSD playing a role in freezing the process to move forward. Literature is also available to read on this.

Membership in a guru-group, along with the dogma that the group has a special secret understanding, or higher spiritual attainment or something... yeah, that's a KoolAid high. The world is filled with KoolAid highs. Some people get their highs from money, possessions, status, drugs, relationships, etc.
As Mr B taught us, everything is temporary, so eventually the KoolAid runs out in all these situations. You can try blaming the particular guy who's pouring the KoolAid, and go running to find a different source.
Or eventually, you can get a little insight, like Mr B did when he sat under a tree for a while. Maybe life doesn't have to be a search for KoolAid from this place or that.
Somebody drinks the KoolAid for a while. Maybe the KoolAid runs out, or maybe he just realizes that someday the KoolAid must inevitably run out. This leads to an existential crisis like Mr B's, a questioning of this endless thirst for KoolAid.
Mr B himself originally didn't want to say anything about it. After all, those folks who are in the midst of guzzling KoolAid in this or that guise... how could they ever understand the insight of someone who's seen beyond KoolAid?
But what the hell, he figured
maybe a few people would be ready to hear him, so why not deliver a few sutras (that's what they called blogs back then) just in case someone in the audience is ready to see something other than KoolAid.
KoolAid must be tasting lot more sweeter than the truth itself.
Exactly! Truth doesn't have that sweet taste. Truth tastes like water, like nothing. But like water, it'll take away your thirst. And you can drink the water of Truth all the time, and it'll never make you sick. Can't say the same about KoolAid.

Revered Chuckji menioned ..
He is telling me that with all that golden weed you smoke and all those wild Indian girls you are runnin with, you can't tell koolaide from a cow pie!
;; The combo works that way chuck. Golden weed without the wild gals makes nonsense and viceverse. The galz trigger passion and the weeds get me some dispassion. Thats why i condemn both the fauxru and the fauxciple alike. I would want to suggest my friend jody to set up a blog that tells seekers not to look for koolaides when they enter the samraj(kingdom) of a guru and force him to supply it.
I would want to suggest my friend jody to set up a blog that tells seekers not to look for koolaides when they enter the samraj(kingdom) of a guru and force him to supply it.
That would require the guru to not set up the kingdom selling koolaides with eyes fixed on the price of lots of dough, sex and power. The koolaides come pre-mixed in the equation by these creeps. The formula for starting the IV drip in unsuspecting and innocent members is part of the equation these creeps employ.
Jody needs not set-up another site. Continuing to educate people about these creeps and their corrupted agendas will help stop people from ever setting foot into these pre-set traps.
There are plenty of people of pure heart, belief and devotion who have been sucked in and scammed by these bozos. These people didn't force anything. They gave their love, labor and money with pure belief and intention. Continued public education for anyone doing their research, such as Jody does on this site, will help to offer disclosure before anyone even thinks of setting foot on the front door steps of groups 'owned' by such corrupted cons.
The game has been named.
sem, I ulti-muttly agree with you that fake gurus and fake disciples go together like chicken and grease. We poor fools who have wanted to get out of the drain fields and the jail cells of our own private hearts and minds have also wanted at some point the god like powers we have imagined these gurus to have got hold of. It is hard for a fool who has imagined he is flyin through space to realize and admit that he is really plummetin into the grease fires of hell! It's like goin from havin two wings to havin just the one!
But someone told me that in the infinitude of space, there aint no difference between fallin and flyin! And if all a man wants to do is to fly in circles around the Good Lord, one wing will suffice!
Sounds to me that the combo of your golden weeds and your golden girls has blown your fart chakra wide open at last, semblance! Too bad you can't bottle that stuff into a spray can! You could enlighten the world and kill every chigger and mosquito in East Texas at the same time!
Gon't you sometimes wonder what goes on at Chet's Khatmandu, Nepal "meditation centre"? Well you should see her in drag, dressed in her polythene bag, yes you should see Polythene Pam.
you should see Polythene Pam
Are you saying Chet has a transexual alter-ego?
No.
So what gives? Please decode your cryptic statement for us.
Other than the fact that it's a lyric from a Beatles song.
I'm trying to give you some info about Chet. If I come right out and say it you won't run it. So here's one last clue for you all. Now think outside the box, Chet & Nepal.
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun.

If you judge it "by the gun" then Chet and his spinoff cousins don't have too much that is not uncommon. Reports of outsting a sibling while the kingdom was being ransaked for its gold. The believers in the sibling being ousted were held by guns of an automatic nature.
Dear Believers jump the guns
Dear Believers sit in silence and don't invoke the guns, and certainly don't run, you will invoke the guns.
Dear Brother, take the beatings, renounce the crown, save the believers and their flow of blood.
Dear Brother did take the beatings, stopped the guns and saved the believers and their flow of blood.
Dear Brother later jumped ship in a tropical isle and escaped the beatings and the guns.
Dear Brother continues to preach the worthiness of the unworthy father guru figure, and so does Chet.
The unworthy father guru figure was really the one who caused the believers to need to jump the gun... all this time later, still jumping the gun.
Stop the belief in the guru father figure and his sons and daughters, stop the flow needing to jump the gun.
All is well, all is done, we have retired the need to jump the gun.
Amen...
Live in peace and truth
To Anon whose husband is in Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam. As far as I know, a married man or woman cannot live in his ashram as an ashramite without the support of the spouse. You may want to visit the ashram and find out what is really happening.
