The pope is dead. We can't say we're too upset about that. His thoroughly ignorant policies concerning birth-control, AIDS, women's rights and right-to-life issues insured that years ago. Unfortunately, he's stacked the College of Cardinals with ignorant men just like himself, so we're probably looking at more ridiculously anachronistic social policy and spiritual ignorance pouring out of the Vatican for the next 30 years or so.

I urge to go and read the whole article by Kueng: while he saves some aspects of the late John Paul II pontificate, he puts out criticism in moderate but firm terms. I found it a lot more enlightening that the summary referenced in your blog.
I didn't feel the need to expand on my contention that the Pope was pretty much a dumbass when it came to some of the issues of modern life. His anti-birth control policies are probably responsible for a lot of the AIDS in Africa as well as folks popping out excess population. There's also his stand on same sex marriage, the marriage of priests and issue of women in the clergy.
This isn't to say he was a complete disaster, but if you asked me, he did a lot more harm than the good he thought he was doing.
He did one good thing when he declared that women could not be priests because they are not made in the likeness of christ...he opened the door just wide enough for me to see i had been in the dark of oppression. I made it out! I never looked back! thanks JPII for making it very obvious that in the catholic church i would have had to accept second class status.

Folks fucking like there's no tomorrow, with whichever crosses it's path whenever he/she gets horny are the true responsibles of spreading AIDS in the world, altough if your'e to blame something besides an individual, I'd would suggest mis-information, lack of education and refusal to adopt a new lifestyle with less libertinism. Anti-birth control policies doesn't have a penis!
When people stop blaming other things instead of acting responsibily about their own actions, things like AIDS, overpopulation and people blaming people like you do are surely going to decrease.
other stands I consider some issues open for debate, while other things (same sex marriage, priest marriage) I strongly disagree.
You must consider stop trash-mouthing around a person which lived every second of his life.
