Knowing his unbridled lust for as many accolades as his crack PR squad can muster, we imagine Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is mighty pleased to be a point of contention at an Maharaja Sayaji Rao University senate meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It's apparently a microcosm of Indian politics in general, with the conservatives (BJP) and the liberals (Congress) going at it over who should be awarded honorary degrees this year:
Senate meetings today are a turf for one-upmanship and mudslinging between the BJP and Congress factions. No one expects them to come up with ideas. If anything, these experienced members have perfected the fine art of politicising academics.Of course it's the conservatives who are backing Sri Sri. But we bet he'd dump them the instant he thought he could get more traction with the other side.
During their last meeting on March 31, for instance, one group, proposed honorary degrees for Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The anti-BJP group immediately proposed eight other names including Narayan Murthy, Azim Premji, Laxmi Mittal, and Sam Pitroda among others. Instead of important academic and administrative issues, the senate members debated on honorary degrees for two hours.

hmmm -- sounds like another practioner of Sudarshana Kriya who got the wonderfully spiritual benefits that Art of Living courses seem to produce: becoming irrationally defensive, hostile and threatening to anyone who dares to speak against their Fearless Leader, Ravi Shankar.

Yeah, right, a vast reservoir of compassion. Uh huh, and just press his little AOL defender/follower a little and you'll find a passive aggressive basket case, in one breath gently (ever so gently) encouraging us to focus on His Royal Loving Kindness, SSRS, and in the next, when pushed too hard, going psycho like all the other "devotees" that are around Ravi Shankar. What a bunch of hypocrites Art of Living people are. Ravi Shankar is a self important, paranoid, frightened little man. Get to know him better, then say how "lucky" anyone is who focuses on him. He is also cruel and nasty when pushed. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, as they say, so why any surprise that his followers are just like him? Smiling and dancing on the outside, all smooth talk and nicety, then, when laid bare, a nasty mess of worms inside.
Art of Living, it's followers and it's leader are all a bad joke on the world. May they fade away in the same way as SSRS's space daddy Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has over time.

All the so called self-styled, self-declared pseudo gurus are the greatest hindrance to arrive at the reality. All so called Gurus and Gods are just the myth, our life alone is the truth, let us live it; let us leave these hypocrite gurus. So long the gullible public has some sense of guilt and an urge or drive to surpass their sense of inadequacy, Gurus will have a growing market. Very profitable indeed.
