A Waste Of Time On Sri Sri

File under: Backroom Gurudom and The Siddhi of PR

Knowing his unbridled lust for as many accolades as his crack PR squad can muster, we imagine Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is mighty pleased to be a point of contention at an Maharaja Sayaji Rao University senate meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It's apparently a microcosm of Indian politics in general, with the conservatives (BJP) and the liberals (Congress) going at it over who should be awarded honorary degrees this year:
Senate meetings today are a turf for one-upmanship and mudslinging between the BJP and Congress factions. No one expects them to come up with ideas. If anything, these experienced members have perfected the fine art of politicising academics.

During their last meeting on March 31, for instance, one group, proposed honorary degrees for Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The anti-BJP group immediately proposed eight other names including Narayan Murthy, Azim Premji, Laxmi Mittal, and Sam Pitroda among others. Instead of important academic and administrative issues, the senate members debated on honorary degrees for two hours.
Of course it's the conservatives who are backing Sri Sri. But we bet he'd dump them the instant he thought he could get more traction with the other side.

Either way, he'll probably end up with another plaque for his wall of fame shame, allowing him to blow his own horn just a little bit louder. And hopefully one day, loud enough to attract the attention of the Nobel Peace Prize committee.

thought someone wanted to stop writing about sri sri. You find Him irresistible, eh!? Let us see if you are able to hold back from writing anything - anything about Sri Sri for, say, 3 months! Challenge!

I provide the link to the entire article, so while I'm presenting a point of view, I'm leaving enough information for folks to form their own opinions, bitch.

hmmm -- sounds like another practioner of Sudarshana Kriya who got the wonderfully spiritual benefits that Art of Living courses seem to produce: becoming irrationally defensive, hostile and threatening to anyone who dares to speak against their Fearless Leader, Ravi Shankar.

Breathe on!

Jodi, it's good that you place your attention on God in the form of Sri Sri. He's a vast resevoir of compassion that sucks away your negativity. Keep on going! Say more! You're making great progress. Tell us more about what a publicity seeking bastard he is. ;-)

More like a vast reservoir of need and self-regard, one he seeks to keep full by playing a character that has compassion instead of a naked lust for name and fame.

Tell us more about what a publicity seeking bastard he is.

I will, Mr. Facile Attempt At Reverse Psychology.

Yeah, right, a vast reservoir of compassion. Uh huh, and just press his little AOL defender/follower a little and you'll find a passive aggressive basket case, in one breath gently (ever so gently) encouraging us to focus on His Royal Loving Kindness, SSRS, and in the next, when pushed too hard, going psycho like all the other "devotees" that are around Ravi Shankar. What a bunch of hypocrites Art of Living people are. Ravi Shankar is a self important, paranoid, frightened little man. Get to know him better, then say how "lucky" anyone is who focuses on him. He is also cruel and nasty when pushed. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, as they say, so why any surprise that his followers are just like him? Smiling and dancing on the outside, all smooth talk and nicety, then, when laid bare, a nasty mess of worms inside.

Art of Living, it's followers and it's leader are all a bad joke on the world. May they fade away in the same way as SSRS's space daddy Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has over time.

So long the gullible public has some sense of guilt and an urge or drive to surpass their sense of inadequacy, Gurus will have a growing market. Very profitable indeed.

Don't blame these Gurus. We, the seekers deserve the blame.

dear friend after posting my comment i found that they are been examined by a person, who himself needs lots of self introspection. you know "opposite values are complementary" and whatever you "resist that you persist". so even if you continue to rant about spiritual gurus they will continue to do their job without any awareness of your stupid and cheap blog WITH MORE INTENSITY. you play the role of villain and all the innocent and honest masters who serve the humanity are heroes , until there is no villain there is no thrill right!. so u are doing your job quiet well..... so this is my last humble request continue your job with more passion and of course you know the result:). furthermore , i don't wish to visit your blog because when slipper bites your leg you don't go and bite the slipper , right.
JAI SHRI KRISHNA!!!!!
