Asahara Presses On With Wackjob Act

File under: Gurus Doin' Time

Here's an interesting question: can someone who attempted to kill thousands ever be considered sane? Subway-gassing AUM founder Shoko Asahara, on death row for the deed, is pressing on with his insanity act. It started out with gibberish and diaper wearing; it's now moved on to silence. At least this is more in keeping with the behavior of a yogi than an insane person. But if it's just the fear of death that's got him silent, it makes him a lot less of a yogi and a lot more like a scared little dog.

He's probably a mixture of both. We honestly can't say we're not the same, but then we've never tried to jump start Armageddon with nerve gas... or are in prison waiting to be executed for it.

Jody, there is a diaper wearing gibbering Shoko Asahara in all of us, just waiting to get out and run free. I'm guessing this guy did not come up through the ashram system, but likely took a few realization instigating drugs. Hence your previous warning about the psychedelic path to self knowledge. Not that an ashram would have helped him, I'm also guessing. But please remove one mark from that side.

You mean there's a scamming con artist who's just a scared little bitch running from his execution in all of us?

Asahara is a megalomaniac who just happened to find enough idiots to believe in him to form a cult. It's alleged that drugs were a part of their practice, but that's not an indictment of drugs themselves to my mind. Just because cars sometimes kill people isn't a reason to outlaw them.

Yes, and a scumbag of all possible discriptions.

Still I do not support outlawing drugs.

I'm having to agree with facedog, there is indeed a scumbag in all of us! But most especially in facedog, hisself.
