PrakashakaBoomBoom Bails Out Of Texas

File under: Gurus Doin' Time, Hands Where They Don't Belong and The Siddhi of PR

This summer's real "Love" Guru, Swami PrakashakaBoomBoom (Prakashanand Saraswati), was allowed to leave the States for India after a devotee put up ten-million dollars to guarantee his return to face child molestation charges. Right now, the Swami is thanking his lucky booms for a couple of true American classics: the infomercial and the Ab Flex:
The money was promised by Peter Spiegel, an entrepreneur who made his fortune primarily in direct marketing, according to published media reports posted on his Web site...

Much of Spiegel's fortune appears to have come from products sold through infomercials produced by a company called Kent and Spiegel Direct Inc., based in Culver City, Calif. Partner Marsha Kent has a listed address at Barsana Dham.

One of the Kent and Spiegel products was called the Sobakawa pillow, a posture-correct pillow filled with buckwheat husks and aimed at soothing the aches and pains of aging baby boomers.

Another product was the Ab Flex, which promised to help users lose 5 inches and 10 pounds in only three minutes a day.
Cheap merchandise – very obnoxiously marketed – to the rescue! Could Spiegel have just bought the swami's freedom for 10 mil? That's got to be worth a few thousand particularly personally-attentive gopis in the afterlife.

And what of PrakashakaBoomBoom's own guru, the constantly alleged to be serial sexual molester, Kreepalu (Kripalu Maharaj)? He was looking a bit peaked the last time we saw a photo of him. Perhaps he could use a little time with an Ab Flex as well:

Jodi -- this is about your best post ever. I laughed so hard I almost spit coffee all over my computer.

Damn -- $10 MILLION dollars! Yep, this guru is free to move on to Indian girls exclusively until his dying day, and Peter S only has to sell a few billion more cheap-ass products to buy SwamiG's (the G stands for grabby grandfather) freedom. Plus as you said, the self-proclaimed informerical genius is looking forward to all that gopi action in the afterlife.

Hays County -- you just won the lottery. CA-CHING!

I thought about it, thought about it some more, and decided to honor your suggestion.

Nice ditty. You should be working for Spiegel.

Whoo-eey Jodi, If you want to see a boatload of angry JKPers, you should check out the blog associated with that Austin Statesman article. Damn! They came out with their guns ablazing yesterday spewing koolaid about the article being biased, what a great charitable humanitarian (for decades!) their guru is, and how it's all a smear campaign against (take your pick) a great Hindu spiritual leader or all Hindus.

Forget the fact that the judge was kind enough to let their swarmiGG (groping grandpa) leave the country under ANY circumstances -- how many arrested felons ask for that?

You can just imagine all the people there plotting their whole blog campaign all morning -- then sending out the blast from about 2:30 to 8:30 pm. It's CLEAR they do not take kindly to any reporting that doesn't tout them at the greatest, best, most blah-blah-blah spiritual path on the planet.
If you take a peak, watch out not to step in or get sprayed by the koolaid.

Spiegel, no doubt credits all his suck-cess to Sri Sri Boom Boom, So the golden goose can't languish in the slammer. this is similar to so many stories i've heard, Guru gave me everything so i will overlook all evidence that points to the fact that he/she is just a little bitch. can i point out that it is weird that this kind of magical thinking flourishes in groups that should be cultivating austerities, dispassion ect. somehow all this stuff seems like the anti-yoga to me.

Let's see if this Scami Boom Boom would come back to the US to stand trial. May be Dog the Bounty Hunter would bring him back!

Well, things got too hot for JKP over on the Statesman blog. There were so many good comments exposing the place -- and this morning after just 48 hours in existence -- poof -- it's disappeared like a puff of smoke.
JKP's posee of high-priced lawyers and two PR firms must have been working double time to claim slander, smear, and bias. That is one f'ed up organization who does not want their dark side exposed for the world to see. Well they have just forced ex-devotees to start their own blog -- where all members can share their thoughts without having their tongues cut out and their brains f'ed with. More on this soon.
Hey JKP -- you can run now, but you can no longer hide. We know all your secrets.

Jodi, I'll send you a few of my most interesting and revealing comments that were deleted, if you want to post them here:

Seeking Truth wrote:
Someone wondered who will take succession of Barsana Dham should the swami not return or be otherwise indisposed.
I believe I've found a clue from the blog of the current Vice President (Former President), Prabhakari Devi.

Her blog states: "Prabhakari Devi helps to coordinate family camps at HER ashram." So it’s already hers already, huh? That was fast.

I'm sure this is also good news for ALL Barsana Dham residents based on this preeminent “Didis” shining accolades including (excerpted here):
- Prabhakari Devi (Didi) is a MUCH LOVED personality in the field of spiritual philosophy.
- Her particular interest is in YOUTH OUTREACH.
- Saraswati ... TUTORED her in the ways of spiritual philosophy when she was in her late teens. (Hopefully of age!)

You know Austinites, I've been thinking. To be fair to Barsana Dham, why not request of the organization the opportunity to share with us all of its gurus many great "charity works" of which so many of its dedicated members spoke of with in such glowing terms, but without any details?
Barsana Dham members, can you please arrange a public event to better educate many of us about your Swamiji's long history of charitable work. I know that you all are experts at taking and archiving video footage, photos, articles, and accolades from upstanding members of community. May we all come out one day and view all of your archives? Perhaps a nice event in your beautiful temple with slide shows and video?

I think just to quiet the skeptics it would be best to include a lot of historical factual information, not just recent photos and video and letters from supporters. I think you can understand why this humble request is necessary. I for one look forward to seeing this discussion and visual history of his many decades of selfless charity work.
Please inform us here when we can hope to enjoy this event. Thank you.

Hey JKP,
I just saw on one of your swami's many blogs (how many does one swami need?) this announcement:

"Swami Prakashanand Saraswati to Host Yoga Symposium June 20-22"
... Swami Prakashanand Saraswati will host the 2008 Texas Yoga Retreat (at Barsana Dham).

So will he really be back in town so soon? Just checkin'.

Maybe he'll give us a presentation on all of his charitable work, which you claim he has done over the entire span of his "career" as a saint/sanyasi/guru. Is he a yogi, too?

A Sane Voice -- "Voice of America News" reports: Tom Burton, General Counsel for Houston-based Justice for Children, a non-profit group that is not involved in the case (of Prakashanand Saraswati being allowed to leave the country thanks to $10 million dollars bail), is among those questioning the judge's decision. "It is disturbing, from a public policy perspective, that an accused child molester could simply carry around a war chest and pay his way out of trouble and that appears to be what the judge allowed to happen," he said.

Supporters of the Indian cleric say the charges against him are spurious and that he will return so that he can be exonerated in court. But Tom Burton says if the accused is in fact a child molester the judge may have put CHILDREN IN INDIA and elsewhere at risk by letting him leave. "What assurances do we have that children all around the world are safe? Until we resolve the allegations here in Texas how do we know?," he said.

Will any other child safety companies and advocates, such as Tom Burton from Houston, come forward and support the sexually abused women (molested as children)? There must be some local Austin organization or business -- perhaps right in our own backyard -- dedicated to keeping children safe from being lost, missing, and abused that will help these girls?

So many devote devotees (dupes) were whining to the Statesman (and probably still are in email blasts) along the lines of “You … did not cover anything about so many testimonys from prominent people around the world presented to the judge ...” and other such cry-baby things that really ticked you all off.

Well, if you wanted the media to report on this and if you think what happened from your perspective is SO newsworthy, why didn’t you send a press release touting your news out to the media after the hearing? After all JKP-BD has “at least two PR firms.” You had plenty of time to share your joyous news that he got his passport back and had a bunch of supporters speak on his behalf.

Soooooo? Do tell? You’re such a PUBLIC organization, as so many of you have repeatedly reminded us. So, where was your open disclosure on this event? Hmmmmm?

Someone calling themselves JLRTX wrote in complaining -- "Many of these people have raised their children at Barsana Dahm and many of those children are now successful adults in their own right who make it a point to come visit Swamiji personally when he is here. Some of them come back and live on the property."

OH REALLY!! Well before I dive into the non-truth of that statement, first answer me these questions:
- What is the Hindu stance on the parent-child relationship?
- Are children valued in Hindu families in Barsana Dham?
- How should parents support their children in times of trouble?
- Is there any action that would warrant a parent basically "disowning" their own children -- as rumors of this happening at Barsana Dham have leaked out to the community?

SO JKP when is your swami planning to return to Austin. Don't play coy. Surely he has some guesstimate on his return dates. We know he always says SOMETHING about this before he leaves

Be honest with us -- why only tell us what you want us to hear?? Hmmmmm? Can you step out of your usually secretive communication style and tell us all --even though claiming to be a completely PUBLIC organization. We would be very interested to know so we can be ready with garlands and jay hos (hey I just realized that last word has two connotations)!

Jody, don't get too excited over these comments coz seeking truthh/janisha also included you in the same category of being bought by barsana dham's pr tactic teams. When they don't get their ways they would say anything that comes in their mouth like talking about statesman being bought by the otherside in their own blogs. Make me laugh and feel pity for their little brains.
Here is what was said about guruphillac about being influenced "force the manager of the Guruphiliac blog to make a forceful statement regarding Barsanadham style of commentary"
I mean I don't agree with a lot of stuff on your blog but even I know that you will not be bought by any religious organization. Talk about stupidity.

I just realized that BoomBoom's get out jail Action Plan is right on schedule:

1. Get passport back and get out of country by any means possible (ablex and $10 cool mil to the rescue). CHECK

2. Drag the court case out as long as possible -- after all, R Kelly is just now in court after being charged with indecency with a child 6 years ago. So going by his co-accused-felon's schedule, swarmiGG will be 85 if his lawyers can work like turtles. By then, the lavish temples to their God Kreepilu will be completed and the smokescreen medical huts will be erected. Oh but there will be one luxurious medical facility: that's where Step 3 comes in.

3. Retire in the lux-hospital in one of the best "suites" in the house. Keep a ventilation machine and iron lung handy for when the law shows up to see if he's "medically fit to travel" yet.

SLANDER! BIAS! SMEAR CAMPAIGN!

Jodi - you've just been had by one Miss Himani who's been haunting all the blogs railing about one person posting with multiple names. In her new rant she just reported events completely out of context or without an exact quote.

Here's EXACTLY how this went down after you were first warned of this person by someone else:

Please note that there will be no more of this internet identity duplicity crap here. As far as this blog is concern, JKP is a corrupt organization. That's not an anti-Hindu attack, that's an anti-lust-driven-old-man attack, the two of them now.
5/07/2008 8:49 PM

Here's what I posted on the SABAforum:

Dear Readers of this Blog,
Please know that this person called “Himani” has been following all the blogs related to this story since day one. Her or his ONLY objective has clearly been to attack any person who is not pro-JKP. Due to this one-person mission, he/she has managed to close another blog to all further comments (SAJA), get negative comments deleted from the Statesman blog, and force the manager of the Guruphiliac blog to make a forceful statement regarding her/his style of commentary. (Referring to Himani’s style of commentary and your comment above.)

Those of us being attacked by her REPEATEDLY on this one single point like Chinese water torture have had to keep detailed notes to set the record straight more than once. I’m not getting into my multiple (all anonymous) identities on different blogs (one per blog) – that’s for me to know and JKP to not know (I’ll share with you privately Jodi if you’d like). I assure you many more than one person are writing to share their insider knowledge on this place. But JKP will use every tactic they can think of to shut us up.

Meanwhile JKP trotted out over dozen supporters on the Statesman blog yesterday who were all suspiciously saying the same thing, but just had different names. Yes, it was multiple people – BUT all coached on exactly what glowing comments to make about their beloved, slave-to-charity, can-do-no-wrong guru.

I guess the Koolaid can leak in anywhere these day.

Isn't it interesting how everytime a pro-JKPer opens their mouth these days, the whole organization looks a little more corrupt?

For evidence see Anonymous at 5/22/2008 11:10 AM.

A person who wrote a comment on the recently deleted “Austin American-Statesman" newspaper blog inspired me to start a blog where we can share our thoughts about JKP-Barsana Dham without fear of having our voices squashed. Here is Jigra's post:

Jigra wrote:
It's very discouraging to post here because of the censorship. It seems that if you really do know Swamiji and Creepy Lou very, very well; and if you reveal the evil truths about them; your voice will be silenced by the Statesman. So much for truth and freedom of speech. Shame on Swamiji, Creepy Lou Mahabadmash and the Statesman. Go ahead and delete ... sigh ...

Jigra and everyone interested in sharing about JKP, please visit my new blog here:

I will be adding more thoughts and insights in the coming weeks and months — and allowing others to have a voice, finally.

Quoted from a statement in the Austin American Statesman by President of JKP Barsana Dham - Diwakari:

"I am writing to provide some context to your article about Swami Prakashanand Saraswati (Shree Swamiji), a globally recognized spiritual leader who established Barsana Dham, one of the largest Hindu institutions in the United States".

"Shree Swamiji oversees the construction and operation of charitable hospitals in India"...

and at another place on your website:

"Barsana Dham was therefore grateful when a state district court judge returned Shree Swamiji’s U.S. passport, thereby allowing him to carry on his religious and charitable work abroad".

President Diwakari - ask Swami what to say now? Who is responsible for the dead children and women who were killed in the jkp ashram in pratapgarh when the gate fell down and crushed them? The reports say the construction of the gate was faulty.

Why were so many of the injured sent to hospitals elsewhere in the district? The small charitable hospital is not really a hospital is it? Is it more of a smaller clinic? Why did it take so long for the greiving villagers to recover their dead relatives?

Those were poor hungry villagers trying to get a token gift from the opulent and ostentatious temple ashram complex (with an adjoining construction site where an even larger meditation hall is under construction). How big was the hospital and how big is the temple with the expensive statue of the guru installed in it?

Ask yourself and ask Swami then speak The Truth...
